Taco owners are probably one of the most loyal fan bases out there. From the rusted frames to the horrible weak powertrain in the 3rd gen. They're like the Chesseheads up in Green Bay and will follow them to the end. lol

There is a vibe at Lambeau field on Gameday unlike any other stadium in any sport that I've been to. Times Square on a Saturday night comes close.

Wisconsin is the home of the Green Bay Packers, Harley Davidson, Royal Enfield US, Johnson's Wax, and former home of AMC and Duncan Yoyos.

When I was thinking of buying a Tacoma, I joined Tacoma World to get some first hand experience.

I was totally unprepared for the type of experience I would get.

I have never encountered a site with more White Knights.

If ANYONE mentioned a problem or issue, it was immediately swooped on by users claiming it was obviously the driver's fault.

The issue that sticks in my head from there was when a user had their rear axle lock up on the highway while driving home.

The White Knights rallied from their keep and called him liar, troll, and every other name in the book.

They demanded pics and GPS coordinates of where it happened, a Police report, an oath in blood, you name it.

The user got ticked and left.

Not 3 weeks later, Toyota issued a recall for the rear axles on the Off Road trim Tacomas because they could leak to the point that they could, gasp, lock up while driving.

It warmed a bit of my soul when a TON of the White Knights inspected their trucks only to find the leaking rear axle.

But hey, Tacomas are without fault.

Oh wait, 2024 rear axle...

When I ordered my 2016 Taco I did the same thing. I joined TW back in August of 2015 and while I've been on many forums I wasn't prepared for this one. It's like the Reddit of car forums and anyone who talks agains them is instantly outed and ridiculed. By the time I took possession of it there were already several people complaining about the engine & transmission and how bad it was and how little power it had especially down low. There was on guy who said "that's because you don't know how to drive it. You have to drive it at 4,000 rpms because that's where the power is made". Yeah, I'm going to drive around the city in second gear at 4K to compensate for this 💩💩ty design! I've been on some bad forums but that was the worst, well besides Reddit! :lipssealed:

Anyone who would brave some of those cold days at Lambeau are a special kind of crazy! lol

They are probably one of the most loyal fan base in the NFL or any major sport for that matter. They travel in packs all across the country and have been doing it for years. I still have my Cardinals season tickets but sell the whole season now to a friend. But when the Pack come to town I sell those two tickets for just about what I pay for the whole season.

I rarely block anyone on forums, but I had to block several on there.

They never attacked me personally, but the sheer retardation of their frequent posts made my brain hurt.

I was mostly a lurker on there :bandit:. I think I might have had 10-12 posts if that and just couldn't stand the place. When I was back in MA we had a local gun forum similar to TC. If someone (usually a newbie) asked a dumb (to them) question you'd have 5 guys jumping down their back then all hell would brake loose. The moderators on those 2 forums were terrible and because of that it chased off some good members like myself.

I remember someone on here posting a comment from TW when the Ranger first came back about how dumb it was putting a turbo in a 4cyl and they were all laughing about it. Now the gen 4 Taco is a turbo 4cyl.

You will also remember how staunchly they defended the rear drum brakes due to them being SOOO much better for off road.

Heaven forbid someone pointed out that it was because drums were cheaper.

The new Tacoma has discs in the rear, so now it will be heralded as an amazing innovation in braking for off road trucks and now all the other manufacturers will have to play catch up.

I do remember that ! But, but rocks can't get stuck in the rear drums like they do in the disc brakes.

While true most of those guys were mall crawlers and parking lot princesses. 💃

Based on their logic, I kept waiting for all the soon to be coming third party aftermarket kits to convert disc brakes into far superior drum brakes.

I’m not joking when I say that a quality vehicle forum is a part of my purchase calculus! The tundra forums, particularly the 3rd gen, are a cesspool of smooth brain armchair engineers. It’s unbearable.

to date, only two forums I’ve read have seemed pretty chill and helpful besides our beloved Ranger5g: Titan Talk, and 5th Gen Rams. I do like the Ram a bunch so I read a lot of stuff there when I can. Their folks seem quite helpful, and enjoy discussion. It does have quite a few dramatic “my truck battery died so it’s the worst truck everrrrrrr screw stellantis ohmergerdddd” posts. But it IS a ram and seems like a work in progress.

back on our main topic, I’ve also noticed a far smaller amount of 6th gen rangers on ford lots. They’re outnumbered by broncos like 5:1. Not only does ford not advertise for the ranger (reminds me of the Titan), but it also doesn’t build many it seems.

Taco fan boyz are honestly one of the many reasons that I would never buy one of the things.

I had a 2020 lighting blue xlt, and a 2022 velocity blue xlt. The second the same as thebfirst but with an elocker. So much better with an elocker. Towed a good 2k or 3k with the trucks. Used the red arc for a brake controller. Very nice trucks, for the deer lease and work.

I now have a 2024........
This is what the ranger should have been from the get go! I have an xlt, elocker with integrated brake controller. Its longer and wider. The wheel base anyway, and just by an inch ir two, and it makes towing so much better! 4x8 plywood fits flat, an extra .25 to .5 ground clearance, same engine, 2.3 different transmission. Tailgate assist opening and closing, ac/dc in the bed, good for charging phones nothing else), and perimeter lighting and trailer profiles, i tow more than one, and a big screen.

So, well, i just think this should have been the truck we got in na from the start.

I just hang around here because this forum is sooo much friendlier and lively.
One big disadvantage is that i still cannot use forscan to disable the ass. Oh well.
Is there not an aftermarket module available to disable ASS?

Man, crazy examples of the Yota forums but sounds like what I would expect. I just remember a lot of complaining about the Ranger being a 4cyl turbo and now I kinda laugh that ALL mid-size (except Nissan) is a Turbo 4.

I see the Frontier as the black sheep of mid-size because while they never stopped sales, it was so off my radar I thought they actually stopped sales for a generation in the USA lol

Not like a v6 sounds as good as a v8 anyway. I like Ranger's power more than our '23 Honda Pilot's v6 although that engine does sound nice.
