I love it! How was it on steep grades?
At such a young age it was a hell of a work out! 😩

That's why I needed a damper to counter those huge biceps! :muscle: 🤓

Sorry, I meant for Kamikaze downhill riding. I could see it being a problem if it got away from you - says the guy who built a bobsleigh run in his backyard. :D

It took quite a lot of tedious work but I finally got the tree up and decorated. It’s a real challenge.

Wow Doc! I don’t think you can count the number of memories in that photo or the number of years it covers. It’s really something when you take it all in. Nice!

Some unexpected Christmas decorations from Mother Nature today.

We have some freezing rain that is putting a coating of ice on our glass deck railings and trees as the rain falls and freezes on contact.

Trees coated in ice like that under the right conditions can sound really cool when the wind blows. Like wind chimes.

Great point Larry!

Only in the newer neighborhoods. My Brady Bunch era home has overhead lines out front at the street, with buried service coming into the home - ahead of its time and the sign of a good developer. The utility poles and lines in the city can usually handle a lot of ice build-up but the trees towering above them are the big variable, right?

Until they all snap and take down all the power lines.

That happened back in 2011 when we had a freak October 29th snow/ice storm back in WMA. Most of the leaves were still on the trees and we ended up getting over a foot of heavy wet snow & ice which put a lot of weight on the trees. You could hear them all starting to crack then they got louder and louder and took out most of all the power lines through most of our area. We were lucky and were only without power for 5 days but many had no power (or heat) for almost 2 weeks. We had power crews there from all over the country trying to get the area back online.

I had just sold my house and was renting a condo right before moving to my house in AZ.

Luckily I was able to get a flight out the next day to AZ and spent the week in nice 90 degree weather until our power was back on. :tumbleweed::sun:

A freak storm came through here about 15 years ago and we lost power for 13 1/2 days. Ice crashing limbs down over the primaries. You can’t let a fifty foot tree grow next to a twenty five foot power line. But I’m ready now, got a 20kw generator that hooks up to the PTO on my Kubota diesel tractor. Bring it on.

The house I had just sold I had installed a whole house generator (IIRC it was 8Kw) with an auto transfer switch. It ran all the essentials except the central ac unit which wasn't a big deal as we rarely lost power in the summer and I had a spare window unit just in case. I was on 3 acres with 250' of driveway and my neighbor (who was one of my best friends) who had all the heavy equipment so he could dig me out if needed.

I thought being retired winters wouldn't bother me anymore but I realized fast last winter being in Arkansas how much I really hated them. Single digits, snow and a dirty truck just didn't do well with me or Annie so we decided AZ was a better fit for us. No natural disasters to deal with and where we are it doesn't get as hot (3,000') as where we were before and it actually cools off at night. :tumbleweed:
