My Ranger has something of a hot smell in the cabin when started remotely. Smells like hot insulation or something similar. It has done it since day one and that will be five years next month and 148,000 absolutely trouble free miles to date. I’m guessing if it was going to burn up, it would have done it by now.
Anyone else notice this with their Ranger?

Are you sure it's not just the heater coming on full blast?

If the Temp is cold enough - Remote Start will set (Max Defrost) and Blower High
Max Defrost = (Temp Selected) HI, so if there are any dust bunnies (etc) on the heater core or in the ducting you will smell it over standard use.
Ditto on the (Cabin Filter) - Replace (If needed)
Plus, it enables (Rear Defog / Heated Mirrors)

If you change your filter that often then I'd throw my theory out the window! Probably just burning some dust bunnies as airline tech suggested.
