Radio and buttons stopped working. It still connects to Bluetooth and shows the correct time, date, and temperature on the screen, but it won't actually respond when any of the buttons are pressed. I checked all fuses, and they are all functional. I didn't experience any electrical issues or power surges before this problem occurred. I would like to avoid going to the dealer if possible. The diagnosis charge from Ford is $180. I am a DYI kind of person and can usually figure things out, but I am scratching my head on this one. Has anyone else experienced this same condition? And if so, what did you do to fix it? Thanks...

Things like this are always a pain Jack. What trim level is your Ranger and what electronics package, if any does it have? This info might help others troubleshoot your issue.

I have no idea so I’m gonna blame on the whole daylight saving time change thing. ;) Oh, and also on the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It's going to depend on trim level - for T-Shoot.
B&O vs 6-Speaker System?
Dual Automatic Climate or Manual System, and does the climate control work?
Do you have the Touchscreen or Button (Only) control?
That Front Panel = The FCIM

My Ranger is the T/GB-XL series with a STX Optional Package, Supercab. This includes a 6 speaker system. Button only control, NOT touchsceen. Body Type PU.

Fuse F33 under the dash feeds the ACM (Audio Front Control Module). Check to see if any of the radio buttons are stuck in (something spilled on the buttons?) Other than that, the ACM might be bad or loose connections to it.

Pull Both Fuse 31 and Fuse 33 for 5-Minutes and reinstall, also verify your sync version is the most current - Vs 23188

I checked the F31 and F33 fuses and pulled for over 5 minutes. There was no change. And I cannot check to see what version of SYNC that I have since the buttons on the left and right sides of the display do not work. If it is the ACM, is there a way to check it? And the buttons are not sticky as nothing was spilled on them.

I would start with checking for codes for a direction before diving into wiring checks

You may also try a soft reset: Hold Power and Seek Up (Forward) buttons simultaneously for 5-Seconds - I would have to dig to see if this is the same reset as the Touchscreen system.

Thanks. I tried pressing the power and forward buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. No response.

Diagnostic codes checked, no codes. I also disconnected the battery for 5 minutes with no recovery of system. Any other ideas?

I was thinking of buying a used ACM and replace it. Does anyone know if this will need to be re-programmed? If yes, then how?

If you have Forscan, you may be able to download the as-built parameters from it before installing the new one. You can also download the as-built file for your VIN from the Ford website.

Before ordering any parts, why not pull the trim pieces and the ACM and look for disconnected wires. Maybe it is something simple.

Before replacing the ACM , I would try running a ACM and APIM self test (reset) with a scan tool , also the FCIM or FDIM however it is nomenclated for the non touch screen.
