I've currently got a 2020 Ranger XLT. Looking at possibly getting a new 2024 or 2025 model. Are there any major known issues with either model year? Any other things to consider? Thanks!

Drive them and see what you think.

Only you can determine if it's the right move for you.

I recently drove the new Ranger and a new Colorado ZR2 to see if I wanted to trade.

Neither impressed me enough to move over.

My impressions HERE

My truck only has 36k miles on it, so it wasn't a need to move to a newer truck, it was more of a possible want.

It would've cost me $10k or more to get into either of them, and neither of them was $10k better.

My 2020 has about 94000 miles on it, so my thoughts have slowly been drifting toward a move to a new model.

In that case, look at one with the 2.7 V6.

It drives quite nice.

I took a long hard look at a 2025 a little while ago. Sure, it was a Raptor and quite a bit different than a typical 2025, but I still kept walking. I’ve come to like the look of the 6g (it sure has taken a while) and it would be cool to be in a new truck again, especially with a V6, but my truck runs and looks great. I had my last Ranger for 18 years and only traded it for this one because it was getting to be time and I truly needed it for my business. I like the idea of keeping a vehicle as long as it’s still serving me well and is still worth more than the annual cost of insurance. For me, when those lines cross, it’s time.

I haven’t heard of any real problems with the 6g or any real deal breakers except that there’s no SuperCab.

Also the forum for the 6g isn’t near as fun as this one is - that’s gotta be worth something, right?

Totally agree...

I drove the 2025 Ranger Raptor. It was nice. The suspension was really nice. It was better than mine in several areas. But mine is better in a lot more ways. I left that test drive happy to stick with my 2022.

If you don’t need a SCAB the 2024/5 outta be just fine.
That's the thing.
I'm on the fence because mine has 98k on it with no problems so far but I don't need a back seat and would rather have a longer bed.

Is there anything other than the Tacoma and Frontier that even offers a supercab any more?

Even with those 2, they appear to be as rare as chicken teeth or honest public officials.

Not that I'm aware of.

The 2024 Rangers can’t be flat towed, they made some trans modifications. Corrected in 2025. Be careful!

Go over to the 6G forum and look around. I have been on there from time to time and learn a lot about the 6G.

I traded in my 2019 xlt with 60,000 miles on a 2024 lariat with the fx package January 2025. Love it. Ride is nicer than the 2019 and the tech is very nice. The fold down back seat and power rear glass is a plus. Mine has the parking assist which i have used a couple of times. Mine has the the 2.3 liter which is plenty of power for me.

If you’rea young man, save your money by driving your current Ranger. Unless it’s junk.
If you’re old, spend the jack!!
