New tires and added a BDS rear lift shackle today to level it with a load

tires are Cooper Discoverer Stronghold® AT 285/70/17 load range E

So far rides way nicer than my mud terrains, super happy! Will go wheeling this weekend

Not sure if you already have tires and suspension on the way or not but I would recommend some Firestone Destination XT's(whatever size you prefer) and the Old Man EMU Lift from ARB. The Old Man EMU Lift is great for what you want to do and I found that the Firestone tires hold up extremely well both On and OffRoad!!
How do those tires handle in snow? I thought about getting those but went with Falken Wildpeaks instead because they’re 3 peak snow rated and a little heavier. Definitely noticed a difference with acceleration because of the weight but they do extremely well in snow and ice.

The Firestone have been doing plenty good in the Snow. I had them on my Ranger, a Service Van, my old Pathfinder and now my Frontier. To say the least I have been happy.

I was sagging at least 1” or more now it’s sitting about perfect. Will report back after off-road run etc, so far cheap and easy fix.
Did you have any issues with the leaf springs hitting the exhaust tip? Thought about putting these on my truck but I’m torn between that or just getting a multipack spring set.

Might be my next set of tires. The wildpeaks are a little heavier than I was hoping for.

I loved my coopers, was the best ride I have gotten out of any other tire, and handled good off road or in the snow too :)

I'm in a very similar situation as you. I'm on Fox 2.0 and with a canopy, and looking to get a little lift in the rear. How is the ride with the Shackle on Stock leafs? Any issues with shutter or needing to adjust the pinion angle after install? Ideally, I'd like to jump to the OME 1.7 Leaf, but then would need to adjust the sock to accommodate the height. I figure a cheap shackle can get me through the life of the leafs before wanting to do the full upgrade.

Yes I was agonizing on how to approach it as well, new leafs, air bags etc. it came down to budget for me, and I am very happy so far. No issues yet, they are doing exactly what I needed them to do, lift the rear up about an inch. I figure that before I leveled it, that’s how the suspension is supposed to act under load, droop an inch or so. My issue is because I leveled it so it makes sense to just raise the back up a bit to correct it as long as the leafs are still doing their job and not flattened right out which they weren’t and I like the ride. I say go for it, not much of a gamble.

I can say with experience that it is best to not do Shackles at all. If you want to lift it, then do it right.

Can you elaborate on that? Which brand of shackles, what vehicle, what went wrong or didn't work, what weight at the back etc?

I am just curious as this is the first time I've tried them, so far I am happy.

Doesn't matter on the vehicle. Extended Shackles change the pinion angle which will cause issues with the drive line. To specify it will cause binding in the U-Joints. Also with extended Shackles you have to have extended bump stops or the leaf will bend to much causing premature wear to a point that the leaf springs will break early on you.

Though I'm not a big fan of them, Blocks do a better job than Shackles. That said replacement Leafs are going to be the better way to go. It's just a question of the constant weight you will be running and the planned lift height.

Ok thanks for the feedback. So you have experience where your u joints failed or leafs wore out prematurely? Ouch!

I wonder, how many have actually had this experience with a simple 1” lift ? Also since the truck was sagging by about 1”, wouldn’t that mean I simply corrected that issue making the angles etc correct again?
