Any advice on right/left hand turns, particularly in mild city driving? I will be driving literally across country so there will be some areas that I’m bound to have some tight turns.
For tight corners you want to start out wide then turn the wheel more sharply when you're halfway through the corner. You'll get the hang of it.
Backing up is a whole other art in itself. The way I was taught is to start with your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel (6 o'clock) and move your hand to the right (turning left) to back the trailer to the right and move your hand to the left (turning right) to move the trailer to the left.
Besides moving beer tanks, I have a jet ski and I've been towing for a while.

Weight will be fine. U-Haul trailers have surge brakes so you don't have to worry about hooking up electric brakes. I once rented their big open trailer to haul a fermenting tank from my bud's microbrewery across town, total weight was about 3600 lb, no issues. Turn on the Tow Mode button. Yes it's true, my best friend owns a brewery. ?

Probably beneficial that I can’t make that claim. :giggle:

Happy for you though! Dayum. Now that’s a friend! :handsinair:

you are over thinking it, just try and keep the weight over or in front of the wheels if its a heavy load (over 1000) or you will be on the interstate over 55mph, around town it don't even matter you will not even know its back there, but remember it is so you don't hit anything :)

I have the 5” drop hitch.. I recently towed a U-Haul trailer that weighed 2900#… you’ll barely notice it.. just make sure you have the correct ball size.. drive carefully, take it slow, and accommodate for longer braking distances….. also don’t forget you have a trailer behind you when merging or changing lanes or turning.
you had me till "drive carefully and take it slow" then I laughed a little ....
(S) mode and send it :)

??? it’s his first time tho, let him get his sea legs first then he can put it into (S)end-it mode… actually that raises a question for me… (S) with tow haul… anyone do that? ?… I just realized that I’ve never put it in (S) when towing..

The truck will pull the trailer easily, although your mileage will take a hit. Stopping can be an issue. Assuming you can, leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you.

That makes sense… I was just thinking about it and since…(I think…which doesn’t mean much?.) sport mode is a shift “”tune”” and tow haul is also a shift “”tune””.. it would interfere with each other, so one would take priority for sure… I was just hopeful that ford would have a shifting pattern for when both were engaged… (I ask too much sometimes I suppose ?.)

What do y’all use for security when it comes to the trailer? (Theft, etc) I’ve seen some really poor reviews on some coupler locks and things.

There’s really only a few basic kinds at Home Depot and stuff around me, I’ll probably end up getting one of them like you said just to have something. Tomorrow (today, it’s 1:16am haha) is the last day in town, picking up the trailer at 10am, loading her up and it’ll just be me, the truck/trailer and about 3,000 miles of driving.

Keep us posted along the way...what you experience and what cool things you see.
