Transmission harsh shifting and stuck in 4th gear.

Hey I have 2019 ford ranger xlt. 62000 miles. There’s a hard shift between 1st to 3rd like a stutter but skip 2nd gear. But 3rd and 4th can be a little harsh when it engages. Some time the transmission get stuck in 4th gear and the car is stopped . It feels like the transmission doesn’t know what gear to go in. I feel like it might be the tcm. Any body have any idea what’s the wrong ?

Yours sounds like a true CDF Bushing slip. Only remedy is to rebuild it or get a new one.

have you tried shifting up with the + / - button, does that get you above 4?
sounds like more of an electronic or sensor problem than tranny....

Trans is shot. Get it in asap. Before it stops going forward entirely. I hope you are ynder warranty.

If not , new 4x4 transmissions are pretty cheap.

62,000 miles? Just outside of drivetrain warranty? Take it to a dealer ASAP and prepare to plead with Ford Cares - maybe you'll catch a break on replacement.

Mine was $6700 or so outside of warranty. I probably quote a different number every time I post. But I dont really remember it. Because ford cares showed me they care just not 100%. I paid $2200 the rest was ford. I had 75k and it was 4 years old.

Well, I just dropped off the truck at Ford to do a transmission diagnostic to see what it is. Just for the diagnostic it was $215
