No, they just assume that’s the problem. They want $700 to do it. Not too sure if I can handle that myself or not

Just to verify- your remote functionality is still operating (Door Locks) from FOB and your TPMS was still showing PSI, now for a short time the TPMS will indicate last known but will eventually throw a code if the RTM was not communicating. But from what I see , it’s working.
That’s why I drove to a different area of the circuit. (Between C237 and Downstream)

Yes all of that works fine as of yesterday morning. I feel like the conclusion to replace the gateway module was a bit fishy

One way to confirm (GWM) Pass or Fail - Pin 22 & 23 of the GWM (Module) check the module itself the internal resistance should read 108 to 132 Ohms. If outside of specs replace the GWM.
The FCIM is also the same Spec for the module itself.

To be more precise on the reading- it’s a 120 Ohm resistor and they give you a 12 ohm variable (Low-High) so a perfect reading will be 120 Ohms

I wanted to give a small update to this as this will help in future issues as to explain C4483 & C4484 in the wire print.
I overlooked those connectors thinking they were for (Alternate) Halo's, realized that C4483 & C4484 are indeed part of BLIS & LED Taillamps.

The location of these connectors (Borrowed Pic) this is viewed on the R/Rear. The Left matches location.

So, for a non BLIS system the Connector numbers change to incorporate a different connector in the same location.

Note: Sometimes in the wiring prints you will find errors that do not match actual config, due to varying (trim options), such as this from another wire print has C4483 & C4484 connectors for NON-BLIS, so when I looked at the print I posted, I overlooked those connectors, only to find that the other print was (Incorrect)

Anyway, the main point is - there are 2 connectors they also need checked for (Corrosion) etc.
and this connector is just a short harness from the Tail-Lamp down to this location.

Were you able to get it fixed?? I am having this same exact issue however it was after my truck had to get repaired after a deer collision, my FCIM does not work at all, and climate functions on the screen are grayed out. In my case, I had previously upgraded the sync system through 4DTech to the 8inch screen; I tried reaching out to 4DTech to see if they can figure out the issue, but they are unresponsive; Does the FCIM have to be programmed to the VIN of the vehicle? If so, how is that done? As Ford said it is due to the FCIM not being VIN specific, so not sure if the Collision Repair Center that fixed my truck somehow cleared the programming, but obviously Ford won’t program it since it was not meant for my trim level; 2020 Ford Ranger XL

What was damaged in the accident?
And were there any dash lights on from the accident?

Trying to determine reason for hooking up scan tool and any programming they may have done.

Have you scanned for codes? and do you have Forscan?
What specific functions have you lost?
Do you still have audio working?

But to answer your specific question (Yes) the FCIM has to be programmed to your VIN#
In the FCIM (As-Built) look at:
These lines show your VIN# (In-Hex) or what is in the FCIM (Programming)
7A7-02-01 - VIN# (1-5)
7A7-02-02 - VIN# (6-10)
7A7-02-03 - VIN# (11-15)
7A7-02-04 - VIN# (16-17)

View these lines and record what they read

Now we find (2) modules that also have the VIN# (programmed) into the (As-Builts) and also have the same breakdown of the (Vin#) into 4-Lines

They are:
ABS & RCM

ABS: (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module
760-01-01 - VIN# (1-5)
760-01-02 - VIN# (6-10)
760-01-03 - VIN# (11-15)
760-01-04 - VIN# (16-17)

and

RCM (Restraint Control Module)
737-01-01 - VIN# (1-5)
737-01-02 - VIN# (6-10)
737-01-03 - VIN# (11-15)
737-01-04 - VIN# (16-17)

Now: View and Record what these lines are reading
They should match the lines in the FCIM with (ONE EXCEPTION)
The Last (2) Hex Codes on the line are the (Checksum) - these WILL NOT MATCH as the line of code (address) is different

Example: The first 5 of the VIN# - That all US Rangers have - 1FTER
So, for all of the (-01) lines of code
1FTER (converted to hex) = 3146-5445-52xx
The last 2 of all the lines will not match as this includes the address of the line - (7A7-760-737)
since these are different - (The Checksum) will not match

You will note that your ABS & RCM - modules will match (except the checksum)
use these lines and (Forscan) to reprogram the VIN# to the FCIM if the FCIM does not match these lines of code.

So, an example - Forscan - As-Built File
On line: 7A7-02-01 (Edit)
and enter
3146-5445-52
Leave the last (2) blank and write the line
Since all are the same for this line (ONLY) - All Owners
This line should read after the write - 3146-5445-5213
This is (1FTER) in Hex
Example: This same line of code for the ABS Module reads 3146-5445-52CB
So, see all of the line matches except the (checksum)

When you get to (-04) of the Lines, the checksum rule still applies
Example: xxxx-XX - The dash (-XX) is the checksum so for this line only write the (first 4) and then (write)

There are some other (As-Built) files that need checked as well, but we need to confirm the (VIN#) is programmed first.

Plus, I need to know (Specifics) on what you have or do not have working, mainly need to know do you have audio as a normal operation of the SYNC would be, shut the truck off and without opening the door, Audio will play, and the Climate Screen will be greyed out.
This comes from the (ISP-R) input - (Ignition Switch Position-Run) is (OFF)
So, if the VIN# is programmed correctly into the FCIM then we need to T-Shoot because the FCIM is not receiving Ignition Switch Position - data to get it to fully power up and this brings us to the previous posts above on this issue and finding what codes are being generated to help in pinpointing down where the (Can-Bus) is getting lost data

They replaced the FCIM and the gateway module and that fixed it. The gateway was fixed first, which allowed some systems to come online, but ultimately I think the problem was the entire FCIM going out. It took fords master electrician over 30 hours to diagnose the problem (thankfully flat rate fee of $169 for diagnostic) but overall ran me about $2k and 5 weeks in the shop.

Well I apologize I did not realize how quick getting help on this thread would be! I greatly appreciate it, I bought a reader and installed Forscan;

As for what’s not working, it is solely just the climate controls function, I have audio, can control volume and such from the steering wheel, all my Sync functions work, remote start, CarPlay etc. but on my Sync Screen all climate control is grayed out.

So - The Climate Screen (Touchscreen) is greyed out.
On the FCIM - Are ALL buttons and Knobs (Inop)? (Audio & Climate) & (Hazzard)
Or is this strictly only the HVAC control buttons?

Where was the damage at (Deer)?
What did they replace / repair?

On the (Sync) Touchscreen is the (OAT) Outside Air Temp Displayed?
If is it displaying a (Temp) is it correct as if it fails it defaults to last known temp and holds it
My shot in the dark hunch - is the FCIM has lost that signal and has disabled the climate control system.
If they replaced the sensor - By the Driver's side headlight, then it requires a reset, so 3 possibilities.
1. They reset it and had issues, and they performed a (PMI) on the FCIM, this would have wiped the (non-standard) As-Built files.
2. They did not perform the reset, and it just needs a Reset Performed
3. The sensor is not connected, this should generate codes

Since you stated Ford was involved - I assume they tried a reset and will not progress further as it is not factory - Is this the case?
What exactly did they do - for this issue?

After you hook up - Forscan, Scan for DTC's and note all codes and post them here

Just trying to get all the related information - to know the best direction to help you.

What was damaged in the accident?
And were there any dash lights on from the accident?

Trying to determine reason for hooking up scan tool and any programming they may have done.
The damage visibly sustained was bumper/headlight/radiator, but apparently from extensive research I’ve been doing, while the airbags didn’t go off, they sometimes have to reset the air bag control module

All buttons are in operable, the deer hit the drive side front, they replaced the headlights, radiator and entire front bumper top and bottom pieces. When I did some research, it said that the in some cases the Airbag Control Module has to be reset? not sure if that is something. Ford did not do anything aside from attempting to diagnosis and then ordering the stock functions in attempts to replace which was obviously not the correct one since I purchased aftermarket replacement. They would not handle it any further, when it was at the collision center, I think they had a ford service guy come out and scan and that is where I think the reset happen. As I got ford pass notifications on 11/22/2024 "Restraints indicator lamp warning" "Precollision assist not available" "Powertrain malfunction / reduced power" (these notifications came up when they were at the shop)

I do not have a temperature reading showing on my cluster nor the sync system screen

We need to address the highest possible and that is - the FCIM has dumped the VIN#
I noted that is the DTC (Run) the FCIM is not (On-line) on the network.
All Codes are (Communication) related and most are previously set and not current.

You can try clearing all the codes to clean it up and then do another - Scan

When you load Forscan and view the Module List - Do you see the FCIM in the list?
If yes, then you are able to get into the (As-Built) files and view the VIN# lines I previously posted.

Just an operational note: The FCIM gets its power from the (BCM - Fuse Box (Fuse #12)
Pull that fuse for 5-Minutes and reinstall.
So, with Fuse #12 providing power to the FCIM, it takes MS-CAN Bus data to actually let it power up-so basically the data input is the (Switch) to turn it on.
With this module having the (VIN#) validation embedded into it, the other modules mainly the BCM have to verify the VIN# matches (programming) before the FCIM will allow the (Ignition Switch Position-Run) command to let the FCIM to power up.

From you (DTC-Run) I can see the TRM is getting power and Can Bus Com, so with that info the
MS-CAN Bus is good up to the TRM, next in line is the FCIM which is lost.

So, one of the following is the issue:
1. FCIM (As-Built) VIN# dumped and does not match your actual VIN#
2. FCIM has lost Power Feed from Fuse #12 or Fuse #12 is blown - Try 5-Minute Reset (mentioned above)
3. MS-CAN Bus data issue between the TRM & FCIM

Let's start with 1 & 2 and go from there.
