Haven't been on here in a while. Recently lost the infotainment traffic with a message to call Sirius. Called & found out there was a 5 year subscription to Sirius traffic that had run out. To reinstate it would cost $4.99 per month. Anyone else have this happen?
Thanks
Al

If you reference the 2019 & 2020 Sales Brochures, you will find that for those 2 years Ford gave you a FREE 5-Year Trial subscription to (Travel Link) and a 6-Month (Trial) (ALL-ACCESS) subscription to SiriusXM

When you jump to the 2021 & above, all you get is a 3-Month (All-Access) Trial to SiriusXM. the 5-Year (Trial) for (Travel Link) is gone and the (Trial Period) was lowered for (All-Access)
I have the subscription to Sirius and honestly, I have only used it for (Music-Streaming) and have never used the Travel Link.
I may have to use it, just to see what it is all about, as I have NEVER used it.

But - From the 2020 Brochure

If you use your phone instead for navigation, you get free map updates, speed limits, live notifications (cops/construction) and traffic. Prior to cell phones the live traffic was amazing. Now the phone can plug in and do it all for free, well sort of. Have to pay for a phone.

I have to use Waze to get speed limits, notifications and traffic. Are you using Android? Does that even matter?

Thanks for reminding me about the 5 year limit. I forgot. As far as using Waze, I don't like having to plug in all the time as then the phone battery is constantly being charged. Don't think that is healthy for it.

I also run waze just to get the info. You will get it in Google Maps if you are in the navigation mode, where you select a drive to location.
Add on, I use a wireless device, Motorola MA1, to connect my phone. Works great without plugging in your phone.

I use AAwireless, my phone automatically connects entirely hands free. And Waze is the default app that pops up.

I knew about the trail running out. I played with it a few times but it is not worth it to me to pay for it.

Multiple vehicles nowadays are using Sirius XM for traffic updates as long as the vehicle comes equipped with factory navigation and Sirius XM. Yes it is a small fee per month to have the service. It's up to you if you want to have that service or not. If it's the only navigation unit you have and don't feel like using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay if you can afford it then I would highly recommend using it.

I suppose your right if the owner was using it as an everyday driver.

I just remember the first time using it many years ago in a rental Nissan Sentra while heading out to California for training. I liked it quite a bit. I found it to be very useful.

Important point. I drive on average about 1 to 2 days a week. AA works great, maps and music.
You say for music and yet we have a radio for that. Personally I went for serious XM the majority of the time when I still have my Ranger. Now it's a mix between Sirius XM and CDs (yes they still exist)

You can order data only cords. Not sure if it works but it is to avoid that issue.
