If you’re having any shifting issues at all ( even minor) then they are supposed to diagnose them under TSB 24-2101. It doesn’t require codes to be present but they do check for them as part of the diagnosis. I’ve attached a copy of it for you to read through and familiarize yourself with. It wouldn’t hurt to mention the TSB to them so they know you’re aware of it.I don't know if it's the nature of the beast, so to say, now that my 2021 Ranger XLT 4x4 with 17, 250 miles on it... I've been experiencing this issue the last few weeks off and on (mostly on). For example today, 28 degrees F out, sunny, I remote started the truck around 10:45 a.m. and let it run about 4 minutes. When I put it in reverse to start exiting my driveway, backing out on the level about 40' it's fine. Soon as I get on the paved lane in front of my house, which has a slight incline uphill and put the truck in Drive, it doesn't go, like lurches in place. I tried putting in reverse to let it roll back a couple inches then but back in Drive, still the same thing. I have to do this about 3 times before it will move forward in Drive. Doesn't do it at any other time or any other place.
So I have an appointment at my Ford dealer where I bought the truck for next Wednesday for "the works" oil change and yearly state inspection. I know they won't re able to replicate the problem when I get the truck there (about a 30 minute drive). Do I just ask them to check and see if it's throwing any codes??
(Before anyone comes at me saying "duh", I'm an older lady who doesn't know a lot about the mechanics.) Oh, I do have the Ford extended warranty which ends April 2029 or 75,000 miles.
