Anyone use the products on their Trucks/other rides? Snake oil or actually worth it? First time I went in for service they tried to up sell me and I passed as I can get the product at work...cheaper. So if it's worth it I'll just get it at work.

RETIRED!!!!
I had the transmission service done on a vehicle we owned about 15 years ago. Have to keep up with their recommended maintenance at the shop, but when the transmission needed to be replaced, they paid for it all. No questions asked. Don't know if it worked or not, I mean the transmission broke, but it saved me a bunch of money.

I would like to revisit this thread. I just realized the BG ATF the dealer used in my flush at 55K was part #315, low viscosity, not ultra low viscosity, which is not one of their options. There is a note in BG 315 application chart:
"BG Low Viscosity Full Synthetic ATF is not recommended for use in the following applications:
Ford Type F, Ford MERCON® ULV, XT-12-QULV"
I have only noticed one hard downshift in cold weather, it was either 3-2, or 2-1, not sure. And a few occasional hard 1-2 or 1-3 shifts when cold. Otherwise it has been shifting pretty well. It now has a little over 60k.
Should I raise a concern with my dealer?

It's a rip. You have to follow their maintenance schedule and the warranty doesn't actually cover anything on the car that breaks, read it. Doesn't cover the water pump, the alternator, etc, okay so unless I throw a rod and the engine explodes it's not much good and even then they limit how much they pay.

No thanks.

As a retired ASE master tech. I will say I have used and will continue to use BG products any time I can. I don't know anything about their warranty I just knew as a tech I had great luck with their product. But if their fluid doesn't meet the proper recommendation then of course I wouldn't use it. If it fits the application then I definitely would.

I assume you are referring to the BG warranty? Yeah, I never really took it serious either.

I don’t think BG products are better or worse than other products out there but technicians sure do like the spiffs.

My experience has shown they are better. If you haven't used their products on a regular basis. Then you have no experience to comment from. Just running your keyboard to watch yourself type?

Ok, I got a reply from a BG rep saying 315 is the proper replacement. And upon further research, I found a more recently dated BG Application Chart with this info:

Should have covered a water pump if product was used per there schedule as for alt, I really dont see any of there products that would touch that. So why would that be covered? their "protection plan" is not a full blown bumper to bumper warranty, it is very specific to the parts that their products touch.
