Someone recently mentioned the transmission fluid sale at NAPA so I bought a dozen quarts. Will be installing the PPE pan I bought from a forum member a few months ago. I'm interested in the funnel too, will put it to use really soon.

Don't forget that it holds about 1/2 - 3/4 of a quart more than the OEM pan. In case you were doing the 'measure what you take out to get close' thing.

I know there is an extended pan, but the "regular" pan holds more fluid than the stock one?

I've been contemplating installing one of the aluminum pans with a drain plug - there is some conjecture that some of the CDF issues have to do with weakness in the whole transmission housing due to the pan being plastic. Between it nice having a drain plug and this got me thinking..... I'm still on the fence but leaning towards buying one. At this point, I really don't see me replacing my 2019 for quite some time and I want to try and make sure I don't encounter transmission issues.

Thanks - I will keep thinking about the PPE pan (don't need the extra capacity for sure) - maybe in the next 10k miles or so I'll do another fluid swap and add the pan. I do have the pump now, so removing the pan next time won't be nearly so messy. Once I install a new pan I won't have to worry about the mess.

I guess I'm talking myself into needing this new pan....

Let me help.

It is absolutely positively sooooo much easier than even using a pump. Yea, it is a $300 drain plug, but damn it was worth it.

Got a good laugh at your Email address.
Lol, that's one of about 50 I have on that domain. I usually make a separate one for each company I deal with so I can kill them off when not needed, or know who sold my damned address and cuss them out.

That was a catch all address that I ended up using all over the place, and is the easiest one to remember.

In the interest of keeping my transmission fluid clean, I think it may be money well spent.

Yep, it and Mikes stick make it a no-brainer to do frequent-ish fluid changes.

If I'm being honest, the trans is the ONLY thing on this truck that I'm worried about. Mine shifts fine, but I'm trying to make sure it stays that way since I plan on keeping it long term. I have the Fitzstick, so I'm covered there.

I had kind of planned on looking at the plugin hybrid Rangers when they came out, but since this truck does EVERYTHING I ask/need from it, I'm really starting to realize the plugin hybrid isn't worth the money to me - this truck does EVERYTHING I need - so I want to try and keep it as reliable as possible.

I only replaced my 2005 because it was a manual and my knee can't deal with a clutch in heavy traffic anymore - that is really the big reason I replaced my 2005 - if it weren't for my knee, I'd probably still have it! Although I've really enjoyed the backseat in my 2019. I owned my 2005 for 13 years! I'm hoping I can own my 2019 for at least as long.

Probably more info than you needed to know, but thanks for all the info - and thanks for the info on Lubeguard Platinum..... That was golden!

Yep, I'm interested in the PHEV too. I kinda wish that Ford would do a 2.3 in the Bronco tune and put about 100hp worth of hybrid behind it, slap it in an F150 with about 2000# of payload. I think that would be my perfect upgrade, second only to a PHEV Ranger.

The PHEV interests me, but then I start thinking about how much it is going to cost......

A powerboost option also interests me, but again, I start thinking about how much it will cost....

A crew cab long bed option also interests me, but how much will it cost (not to mention, it is probably never going to happen).

I own my 2019 outright - that is a HUGE thing for me. I just have a hard time justifying spending thousands of dollars to save a few bucks on gas (as well as most likely have a bit more HP - but I'm REALLY happy with current one).

I guess once the PHEV Ranger actually gets released for NA, we will see what it really means.
