So I thought things were looking better (haven’t even taken it back in for the rear end leaking) and now I’m getting some transmission related codes, such as P2796 for the auto start/stop.

I am out of B2B warranty but am not sure if the aux pump is covered by either the Ford Powertrain or Ford Protect warranty.

In addition, I have a rhythmic “clicking” and wobble from the rear like the drive shaft angle changed during all of this transmission back and forth.

Still love this truck but it’s getting to be a hassle with it out of service so much.

It’s been back 3 times, first time they reflashed the computer, second time they replaced the valve body and some bolts, third time they swapped out the CDF drum and cleaned the valve body, now it’s throwing the code and they want to diagnose the pump by doing another pan drop and tear down. Does Ford just have a new 10R80 or factory rebuilt one they can correct all the issues at once, or is it a “tear down, remove trans, replace one clutch pack or item at a time” with these?

I love the truck and don’t really want to lemon it…

See if BJB (battery junction box) fuse 98 is good. Did the problem occur right after the last transmission service? It may have been caused when it was worked on and may be under the service warranty?

PCM P2796:00Electric Transmission Fluid Pump Control Circuit: No Sub Type InformationThis DTC sets when the electric transmission oil pump reports to the PCM that it is not receiving a PWM from the PCM .
Possible Sources
  • Connectors damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires or ground and missing or damaged seals
  • BJB fuse 98 (15A)
  • Electric transmission fluid pump
  • PCM

What year and how many miles on it? Might qualify for a new transmission under the LTIS ( low time in service )policy which the TSB mentions.

2022 with just under 40k miles. I am uncertain if the current 10R80 which has upgraded parts is going to last.

Push them for a new transmission under the LTIS policy. My dealer did that when they determined it needed the CDF drum replacement. After they had done the reflash and the valve body replacement. Drag Ford into it if they don’t. It’s right in the TSB as an option. New transmissions have the updated CDF drum, updated outer shell and valve body.

What is the limit on the LTIS Policy? Google seems to suggest it's for the first year or 12,000 miles. I've been having this problem since the first two weeks since I bought this truck (2022), very annoying since every time they "fix it," and the problem comes back, we start at ground zero with a reprogram again.

This is a few different dealers, but the one I'm using now really seems to be interested in fixing it.

I think I've had the valve body changed twice, the torque converter once.

I'd like to push for a new transmission this time.

Early 2022 model (delivered Feb 22) approx 45,000 km.

I too had multiple attempts to repair including a pump issue, multiple valve body clean and replacements, and the CDF drum finally replaced.

I’d suggest being polite but firm with maybe a video of the trans slipping and banging and asking them to get it right.

Eventually, they will get to the bottom of it, I do agree it’s frustrating but for me it just took some time.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
Keep a spare in the bed? For the inevitable. I want to see a mustang 6 speed swap, that would excite me.
Manual would be sweet. If offered I’d have spec’d one on my order.

The previous version of the TSB stated 3 years 36000 miles for LTIS. Then TSB 24-2101 was released and the year/mileage verbiage was taken out. My 03/22 built had the transmission replaced at roughly 18000 miles and 2 1/2 years in service. That was after a reflash then valve body cleaned and then valve body replaced. I would push them to replace it.
