That particular Jump Starter you have, like any Jump Starter should have the Ground hooked up to the Chassis on Modern Vehicles if trying to Jump Start a Vehicle. That said I also understand that sometimes is not possible for the fact some dont have long enough cables and sometimes the Battery is so dead that you have to go directly to the Battery for Jump Starting.

As for Charging the Jump Pack, Clearly it lets you go of the Cigarette Lighter or a USB depending on what is available

You can charge it by Cig. or USB but it takes a lot longer per the review I saw. It takes about 2min when I connect it to my battery with the engine on. It is the last ~10% that takes the longest of that 2min.

Yeah, not recommended in my books. Check with the Manufacturer of the Jump Pack. Even with the NOCO Jump Pack I have, I just let it charge VIA USB and it does just fine

Do they mention that you can just let it be plugged in all the time? Seems like that would be the easiest way. Shove it under the back seat and leave it plugged in. Ready to go when needed.

Well, that and your bodies resistance is so high that 12v isn't going to flow very much through you. it does, but we're talking tiny tiny amounts of current.

FWIW, I used to do product safety certification (think UL) for Motorola. All the product safety standards around the world consider 60 vDC (42.4 vAC) to be the upper limit as the safe limit for human contact. I wouldn't want to get my hands across 60v if they are wet but certainly no issue if they are dry.

Good point though. My 500 amp shunt in my trailer certainly isn't small.

That is a lot of heat that would need to be dissipated if it was inline (series) instead of a Hall effect sensor.

I use Hall Effect Sensors (with voltmeter feeds) on my Home Main Electrical Panel when I'm running my back up generator to balance the load of the 220v Feed. This helps me keep my load on my inverter generator balanced and healthy. The wires are minuscule and the info supplied is great. The displays are located just above my breaker box allowing me to simply turn on/off circuits until I see a balance or I'm below the max wattage threshold. Keeps me from running outdoors then back to the panel box multiple times. Here is an excerpt page explaining how to use the two meters from the manual that I created for my wife.

I suspect the BMS sensor in our Rangers is collecting the same data plus temperature.

Capacitors charge in a non linear rate to infinity... theoretically speaking.
