Howdy! Been lurking for a little bit just gathering useful info from everyone here. Owning Jeeps for decades as well as 2G Fusion, I have to say the folks on this forum are something else. (That's a good thing)

Long story short - picked up a 2019 Lariat FX4 with the Ford Performance Stage 1 pkg already installed last week. I have AFE CAI (dry), IC (hot/cold tubes), large mouth air intake coming in next week. Livernois has already switched over my tune on my calibrator touch from the fusion to the ranger, and the cat-back exhaust being delivered on Wed.
My overall question is simple: Should I run FORscan and get the built-as info BEFORE I send the stock tune to Livernois OR should I do the tune and worry about FORscan later (or does it not even matter?). Would hate to do everything only to have to flash it again.
Hopefully that all makes sense.

Livenois will create your stock tume as your back-up restore as one of the t une loads on your My Touch loader tool you get from them

I understand what livernois does. What I am asking is if I uploaded my tune (which ever it was, let's just say 93 soft shift) and then I run the Forscan and it pulls information (along with 93 soft shift) and sets it as "as-built", will there be issues?

FORSCAN will not let me mod if I have my tune installed. I can load the tune after FORSCAN. Since I am under warranty I would not create a base file for any tuning company after FORSCAN mods so I can return to stock so a dealer can diagnose properly if problems arise.

Does that make sense?

Crystal clear! That is what I wanted to know. Thanks @Racket!

You need to make clear what you are talking about as Forscan will me mod any module that is not AS-Built before and after tuning. I have done so a few times since tune was installed, especially disabling the engine sound enhancement...since I don't mess with the As-Built, I can't say.

EDIT It was the latest version with the better GUI interface and the engine enhancement choice was only enable or disable back late 2020

I don't mean to cause you any alarm or anything, but just wanted to make you aware manufacturers can see you have loaded a tune, even after returning to stock.

I realize you were only commenting about them being able to diagnose an issue, which you won't have any issues with, but I found out the hard way that tuning an engine effectively voids your powertrain warranty.

You could get lucky and they don't check, or they do check and still decide to cover your repair, but if not you would have to take them to court, and the burden of proof is low enough that it is very easy for them to satisfy the terms of Mag-moss and "prove" the tuner caused the damage, even if it did not. All they have to prove is that it is possible.

Click here for my detailed description, If you are up for the full story of what happened with me on my Honda Civic Si.

Thankfully they settled to avoid the court costs and I came out ahead, others may not be so lucky.
