Look up bed cracking on 5g Rangers. Specifically putting a cap on them without strengthening the bed sides.
My ARB canopy came with corner braces as part of the kit. Also the front window opens inwards so you can clean the back window of the cab - neat idea.

No regrets with my canopy. Had a tonneau cover before and with the 5' bed I really didn't like the limited amount of secure storage in the truck. I did initially want a SmartCap, but the price was a big turnoff... the Leer while it may look more "mature" compared to the cool aluminum options, it does exactly what i want and its from a company with stellar warranty support. My dad has a cap on his '01 Super Duty, and despite it being a much older cap they were still able to source him a replacement rear window when his shattered.

If i had a regret, it was getting the Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear as they do not handle the extra weight well at all.

I have not had a cap on my trucks since the 70's, but they used to have a seal that went between the truck window and cap window. That would keep both windows clean and see through if they still make them.
Been in the cap manufacturing industry since 1971, so I remember those... they were called a "window boot".

No regrets. I pull a travel trailer and it's great to have a dry secure place for all the gear.
Ditto, plus it's a great place for the dog in his crate

How do you like those mudders? I'm thinking about getting Falken or Yokohama mudders after the Grabber ATX's wear out.

BFGs are a great tire. My only complaint about them is once they started to wear, I got a lot of vehicle shake/vibration. They are also a smaller tire than other manufacturers in the same size category.

I’m running the Toyo O/C RT Trail now. I’m much happier with them.

my 2 cents,
I don’t mind mudders in general. I have pro comp xtreme mt2, great off-road, too much vibration and noise on road. I am moving to aggressive all terrains. Although I would try a different brand mudder down the road if I feel something lacking.

I need dry storage for recreating, so my Snugtop Rebel does that. Plus, I have Yakima rails on it, on which I mount Rhino Rack cross bars. On those, goes either a Yakima Skybox 12 or kayak carriers.

We camp and travel to camp a lot. While part of me considered - and considers - a pop up camper like a Project M, OVRLND or Topo Rincon, those are $8 - $10k more than a canopy. Critically, I'm learning from here, Facebook groups and others that there's no way around a 5+ MPG hit. That's a 25% reduction. Many, many thousands of dollars to go from tent camping to pop up camper, and so I pause on that for now.
