Dave, my condolences to you and Kate. It is always tough to loose a member of the family. They really are family. They are with you everyday and you know their qwerks and they know yours.

Don't be ashamed of crying, it is part of the greaving process. I'm crying right now with you, as I read these posts.

Give it a little time, but not too much. You have a lot of love to give and there is another one out that needs it. Cheech would want it that way. ?

Not to go too far off topic, but his name is Thor. This is what he looked like when we got him:

He was as tiny as he looks - my daughter named him - she said since he was so little, he needed a big name - hence Thor.

Here is a more current picture of him on a hike - he is pretty stocky but about 65 lbs:

Wow! Great name and what a beautiful dog! He's in his element in that pic and it's great that he has you to bring him on adventures.

And your daughter could see what he would become! =)

Great, now you've got me crying all over again. But your words are so true, lots of love here for the next one that can use a loving home.

Cheech had 5 beds in the house, not counting the sofa, Kate's lap, and the bed!

Or his uber custom one for Soupie! =D

You're right, we need to overcome our fear of future pain and make way for more great momories and cherish those that Cheech gave us.

Thanks Big Blue. =)

It's been a sad week and today's dump run was a sad one.

The first I've done without Cheech around. We had to let him go this week, he's now sitting on God's lap.

fitting that it's a rainy day ....

I'm pretty sure his bed is now permanent

Oh, David.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you, Chris - Cheech is a big part of why we have our Ranger. Kayaking and space for him to lay out. =)

Such a little guy, such a big part of our hearts. Your words help more than you know, Chris - thanks.

Sorry to hear that you and Kate lost Cheech ?.

He may physically no longer be with you, but he will forever be in your heart ❤.

If you ever want to see him again; just close your eyes, look within, and remember all the joy, love & kisses he gave and he'll be with you.

Last year was a little rough for me as I lost two of mine just six months apart. One from cancer (Shadow 7 YO) and the other was Teddy who was 15 1/2 YO and just his time. They were longhaired dachshunds.

I'm sorry to hear about your doxies. They're such wonderful personalities and I bet your two were the center of your world.

Your words are perfect for me and Kate tonight, thank you for helping us.

What's your current dog's name? They are such great buddies and perfect for the Ranger. =)
Joline. (Think Dolly, well her old country song)

Ironically I just got a memory note from Google showing a picture from we first got her from the shelter 6 years ago. This picture is her enjoying the Ranger.

Wow Dave and you all are making me teary eyed. Dogs are so awesome. I miss my dog but am waiting until I retire to get another one. I kind of have best of both worlds as my neighbor has a black lab that loves neighbor Mark. Mobi loves to chase tennis balls. So he scoots it under the fence so I can throw it for him to chase. He has like 10 tennis balls and won't use but one only for the day. My neighbor says he always looks over at my house to see if I am out side so we can play. Cheech is in this great forums thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Mark - that does sound like a really great situation for you and Mobi.

Dogs are the best and can teach us about finding joy in the moment. Mobi must be so happy when he sees you. =)

Thank you, Steve. We were certainly the blessed ones. He was a little character and scarred from the number of homes and shelters he'd been in. But I believe he felt safe with us and knew how much we cared for him.

Thank you for celebrating Cheech with us and your very, very kind and supportive words. =)
