I'm not sure how to describe this but only in 8th gear i get rubber banding.. when accelerating or decelerating in 8th gear it's fine but if not doing those two thing it feeling like the transmission is rubber banding. I do not hear any loud clunking and can tell it's the transmission due to I can see the RMP and Speed steady but "jerkiness" from the truck.. Is this a "known" issue?? I'm close to 59K on miles and I already know my local dealership is a joke...

It may be a bad EGR DPFE pressure feedback sensor. It causes engine bucking at light throttle.

I think the DPFE would only be felt on acceleration not coasting.

I am using 4-Hi and or Tow Mode as a mental reference to your - Rubber Band description as what you are describing is Engine Braking, or limiting speed (coasting) the truck is trying to maintain current speed.

Tow Mode uses Engine Braking to assist in stopping, Moreso when downhill but it also will downshift the gears in a decline.

4-HI would tie in the Front Diff, and the gearing, giving the same feel

If not physically in either mode, try cycling both switches

At what Speed / RPM is this occurring?
Does it do the same in Sport Mode?

It could be the shuddering. It usually happens in higher gears like overdrive. I think I felt it in my transmission in 7th gear on a long trip I took this last week. I had just started the truck (cold start after sitting overnight) and was accelerating up a hill when the truck hit 7th I felt it for about 10 seconds. It did not do it again for the entire trip of ~1400 miles.

Change your transmission fluid, Lubegard has a product for it. I use LubeGard Platinum,

Could this be a result of the adaptive cruise control trying to maintain distance when you're in traffic at a slow enough speed to be in 8th?

This is happening usually along long flat back roads and no cruise control. I'll have to look again for speed and RPM again it's only when in in 8th gear

well i really can't say it happens while "coasting" it's more of a "maintaining speed" process.. this has all been in 2 wheel drive and in drive mode. I haven't tow anything in over a year.. Kinda blows there is no easy way to check the Transmisson fluid level. I hate crawling under the truck to check..

That was a long read to get through all those posts but... it does fit.... thnks!!!
The part is fairly inexpensive ($30 approx.) and pretty easy to replace yourself.

It's easier to install a Fitzstick than trying to properly check trans fluid with the stock dipstick.

I've seen my truck at 1100 RPM in 7th gear (which is crazy IMO). But it usually targets 1400RPM as a cruise RPM. My DPFE Sensor swap cured bucking at low RPMs under slight acceleration. New Spark Plugs made things even smoother. Both were swapped out at ~20K miles.

Additional info
My truck bucked primarily in lower gears. I only saw it in higher gears when the RPM dropped very very low.

I have attempted to duplicate your issue with no luck, I am now possibly agreeing that since it is only in - 8th Gear it appears to be transmission related - IDK for sure. You may try to duplicate in other gears and neutral to isolate driveline / transfer case etc over transmission.

There’s a pretty solid solution for the trans fluid level check (if you already know about it sorry.) called the fitzstick made by Mikes Build Shop I think.. it looks great and those who have it seem to love it, I’d like to get one myself personally… it’s a bit of a shame these nice trucks at times seem so…..incomplete at times… oh well still love my truck I’d buy it again.

Oops got3fords beat me to it ?
