So how does it work with an ignition that needs a key? You have to put the key in the ignition and turn forward two clicks?It's been the same procedure in all other vehicles in the last almost 10 years I've owned that has had a keyless start. Subaru Foresters (2 of them), Ford (Explorer and now Ranger) You need to have the fob with you and press on the brake and then the keyless start button to be able to drive.
