Cannot decide on getting the warranty or not. My issue is I have the Fox 2.5 suspension added. Set at 2.5 inch lift to level, Icon rear leafs, SVC billet UCA. I am running 285/65/18 KO2 E rated tires. Worried any power train claim would be denied. Truck has had no issues and runs great. Would hate to spend $2000 and still have to pay for a repair. My local dealer gave me a maybe answer.

In your situation, I would put the $2000 in a cookie jar and take my chances.
Thanks for the advice, that is the best option just needed to hear it from someone else.

I bought one mostly for the electronics that are in the vehicles now. One PCM could cost you that $2,000 (just ask Tracy @Tracy Bowman about it) never mind all the other tech that's there. Also remember that IF something happens to you powertrain they still have to prove it was you aftermarket part(s) that caused it.

I bought mine from Flood Ford and you can play around with the numbers to see the prices for different years and deductibles. If you sell or total your vehicle you get the pro rated amount back. I had a check back from them within a week of filing for it. It's like life (or any other) insurance in that you you hope to never use it but you're glad to have it if you need it.

Ask yourself, do you want to spend $2K now, or spend $6K later if the trans blows?
I would think that a level lift wouldn't cause or void a trans/engine failure, but they might deny front suspension or axle.

I recently priced the extended warranty from Granger & FORD. it`s not a inexpensive deal , so I decided to just put extra money in the savings account. it is a gamble either way
but so far my truck is doing well & I will get a bit of interest out of this.

Thanks, everyone has made valid points that is why it was a hard decision to make. For me with the mods, and the way dealers seem to lean I found it best to save the money and go without a ESP warranty.
I do not have an aftermarket transmission plan, but going to do that soon when I change the fluid and filter. I felt that is another strike against getting the warranty.
Ford trucks have treated me well for almost 40 years so I will hope and pray that continues with this Ranger. I also have a nephew who is very good third party mechanic who is a lot cheaper then using a dealer. Only have to worry about the expensive parts.

Keep in mind you can get one after your factory warranty expires. I got mine at 74,000 miles and added 60,000 more.
I know already I'm going to use it because my climate control blend door is making the occasional clicking noise. That repair alone would be more than the price of the warranty. Payment plans are interest free if you finance them. With the transmission issues some are reporting I know I made a good decision.

the extended warranty is like betting that the truck will need to be repaired.
remember that the house is always the favorite to win when betting.................................

As I posted in another thread, I rolled the dice on our BMW and came up snake eyes-I will get extended warranties on all my cars from now on if for nothing more than peace of mind. The old saying “it never happens to me- until it does” is alive and well.

I bought a good sam warranty. I have not made a claim, it is walmart so I am sure it would be a pain. But it was $285 for a year with a $500 deductible. Obviously, it is not for little things but it might provide a bit of a safety net if something really bad happened for about $25 a month.

I agree with you -- the actuaries have worked out the pricing to make sure Ford comes out ahead on these. However, it gives the owner peace of mind, they know any future repairs will have a limit on cost.

I have a garage full of tools and know how to learn from Youtube so I do a lot of my own work on out of warranty vehicles, but in the case of this Ranger I think the cost and probability of a transmission failure make the warranty worth the investment.

I’m torn on a warranty extension
I have a year to pay this ranger off, maybe less. Current extended warranty is a 60 k, I have 57k.

I’ve done a lot of thinking and looking, I plan to get rid of this ranger soon as it paid off and I have title in hand. Move on to something different.

I need to sit down and give the plans a look. I want a 20 k if possible. I don’t think I’ll drive more than that in the next year.
Truck is so damn uncomfortable, GF and I usually take her jeep on long trips.

Flood ford - Am I missing something? I put in my vehicle and it tells me I'm not eligible for a warranty
I go to granger and it walks me through everything with prices.
