I bought this android 12.1 inch head unit from AliExpress. It uses canbus to communicate with the ecu and a module that connects to the original climate control harness. I cannot get it to work properly with the ac and was hoping someone has had this issue and fixed it or may know more about this. I have changed the Canbus profile on the unit and tried a variety of options since the one that is supposed to be for my 2019 ford ranger has not worked. One thing to note is that when I plug the headunit to the truck I see that the temperature on my gauge cluster changes from the texas heat 100F to -27F. Perhaps the two are related and maybe I have the wrong canbus adapter or wrong climate control adapter, or maybe a firmware issue with the head unit. I’ve attached some pictures for reference.

Did they provide any guarantee it would work in a North American Ranger?

The reference to 2016-2021 Ranger/Everest and the information on one of your screenshots lead me to believe it’s only for RoW Rangers. That and the fact it’s from an overseas seller.

Yeah I sent them all my vehicle specs and told them it was USA left hand drive and all that. They said it should work but perhaps they sent the wrong canbus box or I need to try various canbus profiles until one works. Was hoping someone has ran across this issue and can help expedite my troubleshooting.

Huge difference between "should work" and "will work". There are really smart guys here...I'm hoping one of them has a simple fix for you!

Will work* I’m not the best at phrasing things haha. Yeah I hope so, I’m still waiting on the seller to give me more support. I tried for about 4 hrs last night in the Texas heat (104F) , until I gave up and just put the original ac assembly back on so I could use the ac today haha

Brian, search ”head unit install” or something similar using the search tool. You’ll find a lot of threads but they might hold the answer to your problem or some members who have done this who can help.

Did they ask for your VIN# and did they program it?

The FCIM (The panel with the HVAC buttons) on the Ford OE Panel is the FCIM
It MUST be programed to the truck - MOST IMPORTANTLY the VIN#

Get your As-Built data and check to see if ALL FCIM Hex Lines Match when the New Unit is installed.
You may have to update the Hex Files yourself with Forscan and you can find the As-Built data files here: Just type in your VIN#

Index - FordServiceInfo.Com (motorcraftservice.com)

Module 7A7 = FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module)

The VIN# is embedded within these 4 Hex Lines in Hex format
7A7-02-01 - Vin # (1-5)
7A7-02-02 - Vin # (6-10)
7A7-02-03 - Vin # (11-15)
7A7-02-04 - Vin # (16-17)

The VIIN # is the most important as it is required for the other modules to communicate to it>

Plus - Noted on your (new) unit it the Temp is in Deg-C, this may be part of the issue (IDK)

Just so you know, you will not gain any extra Climate Controls over the stock system. such as dual as the HVAC unit only has (1) temp actuator.

I need the ac to work I live in Texas we are 105F right now. I have tied the oem unit for now but was hoping someone had the solution because I do really like this screen vs the OEM one. Yes next time I can buy a more expensive truck but this is what I have the budget for now.

I put a touch screen radio in my Harley an it had an interface to allow the handlebar controls to work with the aftermarket radio. It's been a few years but I remember the directions were different depending on the bike/brand you were using the interface with. I had to cut one wire on the interface an do an activation sequence (I think, I'll look for the box if I get a chance an look at the directions). Looks like that's a multi brand setup so it might be something like that.

The solution is Most Likely going to be programming the new unit (what it is using as a FCIM module) AsBuilt file to match the OEM, this must be done via Forscan. So as far as the truck sees it - No FCIM is installed. The FCIM module has all the HVAC data.

+1. So freaking +1.

If I ever had that itch I'd just put the cash in my fire pit, crack open a beer and watch it burn. At least I'd be enjoying the monetary transaction.

Still waiting almost 2 years for some tent pegs, no confirmation of shipping , yet. I suspect in my case it's a black hole company This was for a set of 8 plastic tent pegs for a ridiculously low price of $1.99. REI and Cabella's had them for somewhere around 75-99¢ each. I think the vendor or mfr. either went out of business, or it was all a scam. Who's going to chase down a $2 purchase from a Chinese seller? I didn't. I went down to REI Bloomington MN and bought a fistful. There may be tens, even hundreds of thousands of folks worldwide that got sucked in for two bucks.
