Anybody using DFC or Detroit Axle Brake Kits?

On my last oil change at 51K my dealer told me I had 3mm of rear pads left and would be due. I have a great relationship with my garage but they want $1200 to replace all four corners and I can do it myself at my work garage and save some money. Detroit Axle has the best pricing and great reviews on Amazon which I tend to think that most are BS reviews but figured I'd ask. Another well priced option with good reviews all over the internet are the Geospec Rotors with 5000 Advanced Pads with hardware for $342 on Rock Auto. Anyone have any experience with either?

Unfortunately Detroit Axle Brake Parts are.made in China. My suggestion is to just go with the OEM Brake Pads and Rotors. Yes they are pricey, but worth it in the end for safety reasons.

Also verify on the pad thickness for the front and rear.

What about r1concepts or the power stop brands? What’s your thoughts or info on those?

Agreed on the Detroit Axle after doing some more research. However there are a lot of very good options out there better than Ford OEM and at a better price. Ford doesn't make money on a Ranger by throwing top line brakes on the truck. Let's face it, the stock brakes are mushy from the factory.

I'll probably go Powerstop or the DFC I linked in my OP, both have solid reviews but I'm interested to see what others have done.

If mushy brake pedal is your concern, then a different pad and rotor will not fix your problem. What will fix your issue is both a Brake Bleed/flush(got to keep clean fluid) and an ABS Bleed. Do that and you will be in business

Yes, that's obvious. My point is that if Ford cared about quality brakes on the Ranger they would have addressed the mushy brakes that numerous people have complained about.

I will also add that with my experience, if you can find the original equipment in the aftermarket(like who made the brake pads for Ford) then you can usually get the OEM Parts for a good price. I did the same thing with my 2012 Frontier a couple months ago. I found out that Nissan uses Akebono Brakes. I was able to get the Pads from Akebono for a good price. The Rotors were a different story. Because I didn't want to skimp out on cheap rotors so they don't warp as easy I went through Nissan to get the Rotors. Once it was all said and done I believe I spent around $600 for all 4 corners and that included the parking brake shoes.
