Had to go way back to find a post about painted brake calipers! I really like the look, especially behind a larger wheel that shows more of the brake hardware.
Anybody have a recommendation about what paint they have used and how well it has or hasn't lasted?
Although I am an IH guy (check my photo) I don't think using plain tractor paint was the way to go on calipers!
Anyone noticed that the new Explorer ST has red calipers. They aren't extra fancy just standard looking calipers in red. Great look!

^THIS^
Take em off, sand blast em and powder coat em.
That's not happening. I am not going without my truck that long and I am not going to have the brakes bled afterwards.
I would rather freshen up the paint every couple years.
I totally understand powder coat is most durable but I just can't do that.

I have painted the calipers on every one of my personal vehicles, although I always go red. I always go with the brush on caliper paint. my 2 cents

Thank you for the response! What brand do you recommend? How does the paint hold up?

I know there are plenty of products out for it, but i have always used the Duplicolor brush on kit, with the ceramic built in, It holds up great. Its all in the prep and coverage. I dont remember ever having to re-do then

I got about a gallon of white epoxy paint. Was thinking of getting the powered tint and doing dark bronze on my magnetic metallic rig. It is a fair amount of work but… Just might go for it.

I’m working on painting mine today. Hit it with brake cleaner first then lightly masked anything that looked like it shouldn’t be painted. Used the International Harverster Red industrial acrylic paint you see in one of the pictures. I wanted that specific color which is a deep red and matches my tow hooks. Also has a 10 minute dry time making it easy to sit there and revisit until it looks good. Not too bad on a nice day but definitely took a few hours. I wonder how much more stopping power I will get now that they are red.

Jeez-a-loo David - are you sure you needed a gallon - a tiny bottle of Tester’s model paint might have done the job - even with two coats. ?

Black would look good. Any other color and it looks like your dad bought it for you

I used g2 caliper paint on my Mustang and it looked great in black

https://www.g2usa.com/
That's really good that you like black... I will paint mine red.

I will check out the G2 paint. I appreciate the recommendation.

My sport bikes had bronze Nissin calipers. Did look good on them.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will check out that product.
