plugged my Strand light DRL so they turn on as soon as the truck is on,
plugged my switchback box so amber or white can be used in my lights
added my custom European license plate
and finally plugged my bed lights to the OEM plug under the bed!

Went to Lowes and picked up a strip of split rubber pipe insulation (3/4 ID) with sticky edges (8.50), cut it to size and attached it to the seam on the firewall to help prevent water from getting into the spark plug wells. Washed the seam then swiped with isopropyl to assure that insulation would stick on firmly.

This is in addition to my "mice friendly" ? Ford engine cover.

Got it installed just in time for our drought season to begin... :headbang:

Thanks to Steve @Grumpaw for posting how to do this: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...rk-plugs-tsb-21-2147.26760/page-4#post-618086

Installed new colder spark plugs, noticed a lack of urgency from the engine and poor fuel economy. Truck perked right back up, and from the gage on the dash my fuel economy should improve. Also noticed it was more eager to go back to cruising in 8th around town (35-40 mph) where before it didn't want to move past 7th and felt sluggish.

Old ones don't look too bad for just shy of 50k, but wondering if the ford tune had something to do with it... ran colder plugs on my focus back in the day but my tuner also recommended them... either way truck is happier so I'm happy!

Notice any water discoloration or rust around the plug wells? Do you have an engine cover?

I have an engine cover, and I can't say I looked that close. The plugs came out pretty easily so I don't suspect there is any rust around them.

I live in Albuquerque and just wondering if the dry desert climate is keeping the plug wells moisture free or if it is the engine cover (which I also have) protecting them?

As my user name implies, truck spent a few years in the northwest, specifically the Seattle area before moving to Abq and now Santa Fe. I would wager that the engine cover is mostly too credit for the lack of water around the plugs.

Fess up your neighbor drove your truck there right? :inspect: That's WAY to straight for you to have parked it.?

You even stand crooked! Now I see where your crooked parking comes from.??

Thanks for the input. My wells were clean when the engine cover was installed so I should be good to go. Also just installed some pipe insulation on the firewall seam above the cover as an additional step for protection.

I took the pic so you couldn't see the parking lines. Sanford and Son were parking vehicles for Lowe's customers when I got there...

Good idea Paul - you know, with all that rain you get in the desert. ;)

But seriously, good job. ?
