Who doesn't love a front locker? Eaton USA just released the Harrop 5G Ranger front E-locker that the guys down under has had for years now with amazing results. Eaton told me about a month wait for delivery. Should make for crawling around the Texas limestone a breeze!

thats awesome please share with us how the install goes and details. I would love to have a front locker. it makes things so much easier with less wear and tear trying to "bump onto / over" obstacles. does the front locker have any interference with the trail control / terrain goat modes?

The front locker does not interfere with any off-road modes. In fact, it makes them better and stops us from having to as you said... yeet over obstacles due to the open front diff. I'm not installing it, I'm paying a well known drivetrain shop that specializes in Broncos and Jeeps here in Texas.

hmmm. its pricey. wonder about a lunchbox locker or aussie lokar etc. that just lock when slipping enough no electric switch?

Priced similar to an ARB setup (air compressor + locker)

I would much prefer a torsen type for the front axle.

My Jeep has torsens front and rear and I really like them.

If I did rock crawling, then I'd want lockers instead.

Looking forward to this setup!

The guys in Australia have had zero issues with the Ranger front differential with lockers installed for over a decade.

It has a dash mounted electric clutch switch, in the ‘more info’ section.

Aus got a stronger spec diff to handle a locker. The US spec M190 is comparably much lighter duty. It was a thorn in my side for years. 4:70 gears don't actually fit despite appearing so in the parts diagrams and the soft metal housing cannot handle a locker. The path forward is an m210 swap.

I was right there with you and trying to force the M190 upgrade in place. I think there are a few shops doing the m210 upgrade now and donor axles from the Bronco seemed plentiful. HTH

If you read the Bronco groups, funny enough... there's only one recorded event in entire forums of someone damaging a M190 and he even said it was his fault, two footing on 37in tires spinning them extensively on slick rock while loaded up on alcohol.... and he broke the axles not the housing or gearset. Easy fix. People break M210s allll the time.

Don't buy into the whole M190 to M210 "upgrade". It's completely unnecessary. You're not going to break a M190.

Also, the Aussie Ranger uses the same M190 as the USA Ranger. The Eaton 14263-1 is the Harrop front locker from AUS branded as Eaton (who actually makes it for Harrop). There's literally no documentation of someone ever breaking a M190 in Australia with the Eaton locker. They've had it for yearssss.

Be careful, we get a weaker front diff that is not designed to handle a locker. I swapped in a Bronco Sasquatch diff with a factory locker to solve this issue.

I have had this locker in my ‘21 Tremor since June ‘22 installed at https://maps.apple.com/?address=108...9.596586,-98.706486&lsp=9902&q=Off-Road Ready
. It’s a solid locker after 2 years of use (abuse) in my experience. Off-Road Ready did an excellent job with the installation. Using my Tremors up fitter AUX3 (10A) switch to activate it. Works reliably every time. Don’t listen to the skeptics, they don’t know what they’re talking about.
