LOL, the hell they're not. They're forcing you into a 4x4 of at least XLT level.

They can keep their 2.7 with its rubber oil pump belt.

Actually, they can keep the 6G all together until they-

Let me have the 2.7 on 4x2 XL/STX AND offer the integrated brake controller

or

Bring the PHEV version of the Ranger to the US. (In an XL/STX/2WD with integrated brake controller)

OR OR - Bring the towing package back to the 2.7 F150.

Till then, I'm sticking with my 2020.

--Edit--

Also not thrilled they are using the 10R60 now instead of the 10R80.
I remember the good ole days of 2022 when you could get a XL Supercab FX4. Now you can't even get an XL FX4, let alone a Supercab.

I think the 2.3 w/ Ford Power Pack is a better bargain than the 2.7 without it. Price difference (with dealer install of FPP) is around $1200 and you get less HP and only 15ft/lb more torque. Much simpler layout for repair and maintenance in the 2.3 and I suspect the 2.3 will continue to have a more active aftermarket if you are in to that.

The 2.3L Ecoboost is rock solid. The 2.7L, not so much. Just look at the TSB and recall notices for the 2.7L vs. the 2.3L. Why would anyone pay extra for more problems?

It's not available on the XL (yet). You have to get the XLT and upgrade to 4x4 to get the 2.7L. So, it's
really a $5,680 upgrade, assuming you didn't want 4x4 in the first place.

They always have to tie it into a package or make you bundle it, they have always done that. It would be nice if you could just spec it out the way you want.

I'm TOTALLY with you. Come on Ford, give us the engine option on ALL trim levels and drive train configurations.
Having said that, I still feel lucky that 5g offered the same 2.3 across all trims. That was the deciding factor for me when I ordered mine.

Would assume you'll give up just a bit of cargo capacity due to additional engine weight. Though I'd buy it!
I think its about 210 pounds heavier and a loss of about 170ish in payload.

I, for the most part, am liking the 2024. I do like the 2.7L engine. Not so much for the extra hp but for the smoother V6. I also like not having to be concerned about the carbon build up on the intake valves. The 10R60 may be not as strong but appears to have plenty capability for for the V6. It also seems to be more reliable. However, I would still prefer a manual transmission.

At least Ford is getting closer to what I want. All they need to do now is make a Supercab Tremor along with the 2.7L V6 for 2025 and I will be writing a check.

obviously the 10r80 wasnt a headache they wanted to keep using...... The 10R60 is apparently good enough for the RRaptor and the Explorer ST, so it should be stout enough for the 2.3 and 2.7's

Personally I think the 2.7 should be a blast. I love it in my wifes Edge ST and have had it for 40k with no issues.. (other than the stupid plastic oil drain plug leaking once because the service shop didnt change it)

I was surprised to see the 2.7L offered for the Canadian builds - our choices for the 5g were limited.

I was even more surprised that it’s $2,295 CAD since I was expecting much higher because of the currency exchange. Still no SuperCab, so I’m sorry Howie but…

I think the 2.3L in the 5g is the smoothest 4CYL I've ever felt, and I've driven a lot of other 4CYL car. It's amazing. Feels like a much more refined engine. I would hope the 6cyl would feel even better, but I don't know how it could.

I thought I read somewhere that the 10R80 was good up to 800ft-lbs or Newton/M (590.05 lb-ft) so the 10R60 would be around 600ft-lbs or Newton/M (442 lb-ft) so even with the biggest engine, I think it has plenty of headroom.
