Spark Plug Replacement @ 100k miles

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant the porcelain around the electrode and near ground strap on the combustion chamber end.

It's kind of hard to tell about the porcelain because of the ground electrode shadowing it, but the end of that pludg is much darker than the rest. Could be a coil getting weak, starting to go. Would have to check logs and see if he is getting misfires on #4. Hard to tell after 100K. Could be something else, could be nothing. Something to watch though.

I thought he was changing the plugs for the first time, not the oil.

I was replying because the OP mentioned he might change his oil over a four day weekend...But thanks for keeping things on track?

OP - Please post pics of 100k spark plugs when you end up doing it

Would like to see how they look. Changed mine at 17k to colder plugs, going to swap them in about 10k when I hit 50k

What colder spark plugs did you ended up using? And did you have to gap it to a certain specs?

Factory gap, came pre-gapped but always good to double check

Well I just got my 19 Ranger a couple weeks ago and it has just shy of 78k now. This thread is making me wonder if it'll be worth paying the dealer to change them out for their highway robbery cost to prevent issues and then change them myself every 30-50k seeing as plugs are cheap to do and supposedly easy.

Sorry for the late follow up but ended up getting time to change the plugs out today, didn’t feel the need to replace the coils yet but will be doing soon.

These are the plugs at 114k, all came out pretty easy other then the far left which I believe was the 3rd one.

wow, that is some heavy residue on the plugs. Most of the ends look in ok shape considering. What fuel did your run the majority of the time? It will be interesting to note later for myself.
