What a saint! A toe-free world, I bet even Greta is happy about that one. =D

I was thinking I may have a solution to all my crap, but I'd end up filling it up with crap too!

I made one of these from a mid 60's 1/2 Chevy Pickup. The straight 6 was new, but the body was in bad shape... so the engine went into my 1966 Marina Blue Chevy II, and I cut the frame at the firewall, notched the frame and made a tongue. Used it for years before selling it for more than then I paid for the pickup. I got it at an impound lot after it sat for 90 days... cost was $3 / day or $270.

Hey guys, if I go missing for a few days, it's not because I don't want to be here. I'm expecting that Jeff Bezos will swing by Portsmouth in his mega-yacht and take me for a spin! =)

Undoubtedly this is Duke

The resemblance is too close to be a coincidence. I may or may not have had a moustache and a bit of a mullet at some point.

Harborfreight.com has a set of those tamperproof bits for $2.99 all the bad guys carry :lipssealed: I don't consider them secure anymore.
Your gonna need 10 ply tires soon

As you get older, the old bladder just doesn't work as well. Especially how long you can hold it, so I got something that might help.

A 40-gallon bladder!

I was going to do sandbags again this year but my shoulders get so achy that it makes it hard to sleep some nights (which is okay since I'd be getting up to pee anyway!). =D

So I thought I'd give this thing a try. It's a thicker material than I thought, kind of like a heavy old-school cloth-like pool float.

The grommets are decent, although they'd never hold in an emergency braking situation or an accident ("Man Drowns In Freak Ranger Accident at the Dump"). I think, once filled, it won't slide around much based on the material and Soupie's BedRug,

I think it could handle cardboard boxes and grocery bags but, for the cost, I'd be leery of what I stacked on it (I think it says you can put 500 pounds on it, I imagine that weight is based on the burst strength of the seams). I'll be tossing a folded 18-ounce canvas tarp on top of it as insurance (I may wrap it completely since I have a 10'x12' one). I'll also throw my smaller 12-ounce canvas dump tarp on top of that. The issue I worry about is moisture under the bladder on top of the BedRug - not sure it's a valid concern but ...

It is "baffled" but I'll also add a couple of gallons of RV antifreeze, which ShurTrax says will keep the water slushy (so I can drain it for those emergency dump runs at 10° below zero). It's designed to freeze, so you can leave plain water in it. But since my driveway has a slight angle, most would shift to the back of the bladder and likely freeze there here in New Hampshire.

I'll post "installation" pics soon ...

no micrometer but seems pretty good and maybe better than I expected for the price

A follow up in case anyone was curious. I'll likely install it tomorrow and blew it up with air to get the wrinkles out. It's 40° out and this plastic is a bit stiff. I'll probably pour a gallon of warm water in to loosen up the filler place (it's like an old school pool toy where you pull out a lave, in this case it's just an inch-long collar).

Now this is fully inflated, you're only supposed to get it about 3 inches thick. We'll see how the Swingcases do once filled. You can see it also comes up against the trire chains and feul can in the front ...

Once I install it, I'll do a post (what? me post? you're kidding, right?). =D

seems like it'll be a good fit - I certainly will use RV antifreeze, I don't want the Swingcases or stuff up front to get frozen in place!

it's supposed to be 3" tall at max water volume (40 gallons). of course, you can do less and have less height - 30 gallons would give 240 pounds of weight)

So do you have to buy a 55 gallon drum of rv antifreeze to fill it so it doesn't turn into a 400 pound deadly frozen projectile in an emergency stop. Seems like water will freeze and make it impossible to remove for dump runs in your climate. Actually cheap vodka would keep it soft and squishy also. ?
I use sand bags with a rope wrapped around them to break them open should a quick deceleration occur.

Yeah, I used sand bags last year and thought I was being clever in wrapping them in two separate tarps (one for each side). The sand got wet and mold grew!

This year my shoulders are so messed up that even opening some jars hurt. I'm pretty stubborn but with Kate yelling at me (gently, mind you) and now getting heartburn from all the Advil, Aleve, and Excedrin, I'm gonna ask my doctor for a physical therapy referral this month.

LOL, I'm even trying a posture corrector to make me not hunch so much while working on the PC for my day job (I know, you probably thought I was a professional shopper@). =D

Now, spposedly, the ShrTrax website says one gallon of RV antifreeze will keep it slushy down to zero degrees. I find that hard to belive since RV stuff is meant to be used straight and not diluted. I'm going with 3 gallons and going to try 30 gallons to start.

The bladder has 8 tie down grommets, so I'll probably use them all. Like you, I worry about an accident. I used ratchet straps on the sandbags and felt they were fairly secure.

If it does freeze, more weight will be behind the tires because my driveway slants a bit - I guess that'll make for better e-brake turns in the snow (not that I advocate reckless driving when no one's around). =p

As far as dump runs, February and early March tend to be too cold for that fun past time! =D

I'll probably keep a folded 18 ounce tarp on it for light stuff. The plus side of this thing is that I still have over a foot of bed space in the rear for groceries, so they're less likely to slide forward.

I'll see how it goes not doing dump runs for two months, but I may get the DTs or something. =p

With all that talk about bladders, be careful if it came pre-filled with liquid from Amazon. Could be hazardous liquid inside. ?

Let me know what you think, I'm going to try and get the Tremor out later this week and see if I can tell a difference.

I'll probably eventually get around to a bigger intercooler for similar reasons, keep those air temps down ?

All in due time, next project is the Ford Performance Bumper and after that I'm going to do a roll up cover, rack, and RTT for camping trips this year ?
Any updates ???
