Nilight Lightbar Installed w/ Lightforce Fascia and switch.

So I caved in and bought my son a 42” light bar for his 2019 Ranger for Christmas. I went with a Nilight light and wiring harness, and finished it off with a Lightforce switch fascia that added a factory looking 3 switch panel. Install was not too bad, but I definitely thought it would be easier. Getting the wire through the firewall grommet was probably the toughest part, but fishing with a coat hanger worked well. The switch plug that came with the Lightforce kit had four wires that I had to wire to a three wire harness, but I was able to get it to work. After installation was complete, I took the truck for a ride and noticed the dreaded wind whistle from the fins on the bar. Fixed that this morning with a roll of door trim from Advanced Auto. Overall, I lime how this turned out.

So, update on the whistle……still whistling. Edge trim didn’t work, and for sh&ts and giggles, we covered the fins completely and still whistling. Any other ideas?? The light looks great, but this whistling has got to go.

I installed some nilights on my quad, 2018 kingquad it's the year before they added a 3rd headlight in front of the handlebars. I bought adjustable clamp on mounting bases and put them on the handlebars . It's a small sideshooter bar with a mix of floods and spots, with all of the oem stuff on the handlebar I could only move them so much. Its solid, not 100% level but very close. On the back I put the rear receiver mount on with 2 pod lights. Everything is aluminum, a good heat sink came pre-wired, I just needed to tie them into my ignition switch so they don't get left on by accident. For the limited amount of time I'll use them each year I am pleased. I couldn't justify high end lights. The rear hitch was for a ball mount that had a bracket that has 3 bolts into the frame, so I bought a 6 inch long 2 inch receiver extension and had a local shop weld it together so I can use my game carrier if needed plus trailer etc and I had the perfect spot to mount back up lights above the hitch so they shouldn't snag on anything.

Yes that is who I bought mine from. 2 dual switches on the ends and my redarc control on the middle tab

My guess is the whistle is coming from the airflow between the front diffuser and the bottom of the light. Drive around and use your hand out the window to block the airflow and see if you can hear a difference. That's the best way to locate the whistle. You may be able to angle the light slightly differently than it is to lower or eliminate the whistle.

So, I was able to isolate the cause of the whistle. Even with the fins covered, the whistle continued. I cut a piece of 2” pvc to fit the length of the bar, and taped it behind the bar. This ultimately almost eliminated the flow of air between the bar and the roof rack. The result was no whistling. I fabricated some metal brackets to hold the pvc in place firmly, and once everything is painted black, I’ll install and post some picks. The issue was the airflow, not the fins. Probably due to the Prinsu rack I have the bar mounted on.

Here are pics of my whistle free solution. It’s a PIA that light manufacturers don’t solve the problem. Took me all weekend and several tries to stop this whistle. Be forewarned if you want to install light bars on your trucks.
