I think I've decided to move mine up from the 60k I was planning on doing to 40k, which should come this year sometime. Already ordered a filter since those can be hard to come by sometimes. Even though I have a pump setup to extract the fluid, I'm spoiled by my Honda cars that all have a tranny drain plug.

Since I do regular D&F's on my 10R80, it will just save me so much PITA not having to pump it out.

Follow up comments on high capacity PPE install, filter, and fluid change done today on lawn with truck level by putting blocks tires to level. Start 8 AM. 2020 XL FWD has enough room to crawl under without ramps or jack stand.

- warmed up fluid and pumped out 4 1/2 qts fluid with 12 V fluid pump, you need to use small hose for dipstick to fit in dipstick hole.
5818 miles 70% towing fluid dark red with black tint.

- loosen 8 mm and 13 mm stud bolts, three nuts on heat shield are 10 mm. They are not too tight .

-estimated 1 1/2 Qts still in pan & filter, spilled on ground cover cardboard, magnet had some black slime on it no grit.

-wiped everything off and removed and replaced transmission
filter, paper had black film on it, will cut apart later, reused O ring.

- push pan gasket on with locating pins, has some kind of 1/8 in wide seal bead made into it, Install 8 mm and 13 mm stud bolts
hand tight. Tightened bolts with 1/4 & 3/8 ratchet, from feel of tightness from loosing IMO torque wrench is overkill. 18 ft lbs= 236 inch
lbs, trust my feel more than hard to read Harbor Freight torque wrench.

-using funnel and tubing slowly add 7 qts Motocraft ULV from top.
Start engine, let warmup, move shifter, P, R, N ,D , S, compare to hot level from, oem an, add 1/2 Q t more.

- 12:30 pm PO delivers pan gasket, and filter seal from Levittown Ford, not used arrived not damaged.

- a suspension member has hole it top and will swallow your 8 mm bolt and/ or socket if you drop them.

-Rest of day till 4:30 was spent trying to get wires thru firewall
grommet Ford put hard to access place behind ABS brake lines.

-I finally managed to connect all the wires to glow shift transmission temp gauge, and sensor.

Test drive, gauge works, check pan no leaks yet??

Yesterday I went to Ford Dealer to redeem my 42,000 points, and
got two sets of wipers, cabin filter, 4 spark plugs, engine air filter, and F-150 driveshaft slip/stub lube kit. Plugs and engine filter on order. You have to open work order so they can charge parts too it.
No one hassled me about seatbelt routing, and Supercab headrest issue recalls.

Pictures to follow, can’t take with greasy hands, hopefully info
helpful to someone.

FYI, shop prices and availability for PPE Pan, filter, fluid, etc..
Unlike F-150 nothing is in way of dropping pan, and the high capacity PPE fits.

I’m glad I changed it early before towing again.

The fluid color is not indication it’s bad, this was @ 5800 miles with high amount of towing.Imagine what it would look like @ 30-50K
miles. I would change it early even if not replacing pan.

Unfortunately the PPE pan is +$310 plus shipping.
Amazon did have standard Aluminum pan, I got the high capacity
black one, the price of filter and ULV high too.

Stupid Micro 2 fuse tap for Glowshift temp gauge ignition feed was also needed.

At very least I would consider sucking out some fluid from hard to
remove 19 mm dipstick cover, measure it and replace some fluid?

Part of my 40,000 mile service completed today.

Also, I did verify with PPE that the shallow pan holds about 1/2-3/4 of a quart more than the factory pan.

I thought I was losing my mind when I refilled the trans with the exact same amount as I took out and the level was way off.

Took me around 6 quarts total.

Guess I'll knock out the brake fluid/tire rotation/oil change tomorrow.

Ehh, maybe 2 hours? But that was me farting around taking pictures and all. If you have a lift, it is a 30 min job, but on my back and screwing around getting the fluid level right, couple hours. I used an air ratchet though, power tools make taking the bolts out and getting them snugged up much faster since these fasteners are a little long.

Should. It doesn't go bad though, never hurts to have a couple extra quarts on hand.

Never know when you'll knock an open container off the workbench and make a mess all over the floor.

Not that I would know that first-hand.

Isn't the same fluid used in the transfer case? You coulbuy a 2 or 3 extra then do a transfer case change with the left over.

2019 2wd Scab @55k. changed fluid and added shallow PPE pan. Used a syphon gun to suck the fluid out until pan was basically empty. Made a funnel/hose extension to add fluid from up top. No issues whatsoever and happy with results. Fluid was clean with little to no shavings and a very small amount of metal on the magnet.
