Welcome back Jim……..err, John.

Too bad your Lightning didn’t meet your needs but you never know until you give it a try, right?

A lot has happened since you left - damper and 303 sales are WAY down and half the Canadians have been banned but you’ll figure that out soon enough.

There's a food truck down the street from me that makes a great burger. It's a cargo trailer pulled by an F150 lighting. I'm sure that trailer weighs over 5000 pounds.

I asked the owner what kind of range he gets, and he kind of shook his head. I think he probably gets asked that a lot. He said it was around 100 miles, but if I had to guess it was less than that.

It might make some sense if you live fairly close to where you want to drive, and you don't plan on changing your route much. And if you don't want to drive the truck beyond that one trip a day. It does seem pretty limiting for a business, though. I'd bet a lot of people that bought these trucks for work are having second thoughts.

A buddy of mine owns a small solar lighting company, and in the solar industry you kind of "have" to drive an e-vehicle (image, and all, when meeting with business contacts), so he has one as his personal vehicle, but he refuses to use them for his fleet for all of the above reasons.

Totally understand. We tow a 7000 lb camper and like to travel the secondary roads when possible. The idea of only being able to run 100 miles or so between charges is a no-go....and probably spend half that looking for a charging station in many of the small towns we travel thru and to.
Welcome back to the "Good Side" !!!
Instead you can do gas stations every hundred miles ?

I wish there were a replacement tank that wasn't $2K, and also that didn't hang below the frame. I'd take 27 gallons.

One thing to keep in mind, since the left leaning, battery unconscious pundits won't...

The more stored energy you put into a chemical mixture, the more explosive it becomes! One very good example, is the Challenger accident. Least we forget!

I usually get 175 or so miles before needing a fill up, and when I do, it's just a matter of a few minutes to fill.....not an hour to recharge. And, many areas we travel thru/to charging stations are not available, and even if they were, think about trying to maneuver a truck towing a 28 foot trailer up to or near a charging station...
And, then you get to the campground....most do not have charging stations yet, and do not allow you to charge an ev from the pedestal.

I’m not advocating for an electric option as being better, just complaining that the gas range is abysmal. In high winds out west 175isn’t possible, coupled with large distances between stations and you make less than optimal stops.

62mph, same camper in PA, OH, IN, IL and I’m getting a smidge over 14mpg; SD, IA, WY, and it’s sub 8. Painful.

The F150 Powerboost is the sweet spot, IMO. Tons of hp/torque, 700 mile range and great towing ability. Along with a 7.2kw generator on board. So most of the goodies of the Lightning, without range anxiety.

The only thing I miss about my Ranger is its size in a parking lot, but I've gotten over it. I just park in the back of the lot, with all the other oversized trucks. ?

Can you send a link to the $2k replacement tank? I searched and couldn't find it.

Hope this helps

I purchased one when they were first available back in early summer for 1900 no shipping. It was also sent to California even though it says not for sale In California. For those who are concerned with that. Hope to get 500-600 mile range with RTT and loaded down with gear. Lucky if I get 250-300 now. Almost got stranded in the middle of Utah last year. Just need to find time to install PPE pan and new tank. Maybe this weekend ?.
