well, for what its worth I just test drove a 2023 z71 Colorado - was really impressed by the motor. It was a fun truck to drive. no off-road.
3 pros - 1. motor/transmission combo
2. heated and ventilated seats, with heated steering wheel. great seating position
3. I liked the screens left to right, not vertical like my wife's explorer with cameras that provide a great view all around.
3 dislikes 1. front end has big nose - and its plastic. Like all of it. I'm afraid this is what's coming for the next gen ranger non raptor. i want my metal bumpers front and rear.

2. Z71 used to be an OffRoad package with things like shocks and skidplates, but not here. no skidplates and the oil filter hangs down under the motor - easy for oil changes but no protection from anything. My impression is Z71 doesn't mean anything now. My favorite Z71 was my 06 Tahoe.
3. the steering wheel controls are completely opposite of how Ford does things. Not intuitive.

I am afraid if this is where the midsize truck market is going it means we may be disappointed with the next gen non Raptor rangers.

I just sold my Ranger to my youngest son, who got a sweetheart deal from Dad. I'm driving all the midsize trucks. may hold out until the 6gen ranger shows up, but so far I already miss my Ranger.

well thats kinda sad. z71 years ago was a great package. eaton auto locking rear, bilstein shocks, shift on the fly 4x4... guess gm knows that the sticker and look is more important for most buyers.

One of my dislikes on the twins & Tacos are the headlights. They may work great but seem soo out of proportion - too small. Most vehicles seem to be going the same way though. Probably wouldn't stop me from buying if I liked everything else.

I really don't like the squinty look, but from what I've read about the rear lights and bumper turn signal stuff, the designers of these say that the market seems to like thinner 'sleeker' lights much better than larger single housings. It sounds like that trend is here to stay for now.

Well, yes actually, I think both of those headlights look better than all the squinty, separated designs that are popular now.

im kinda tired of how trucks look these days. all very similar. all puffy and bug eyed plastic lol. one thing i like about the 5g is the more rounded look. Sharp edges like the tesla truck are silly to me too lol.

Well great news, if you want that look basically every full size truck on the market offers that.

I think if someone were to photoshop full size truck headlights onto a midsize truck it would look retarded.

i feel like thats how the 6g rangers look lol. I havent seen one on the street so far but im not a fan. I saw a 2024 mustang the other day and it seemed like the las model just squinty in the front and rear and missing the cool hood of the 2016 with the blinkers.
