Remote Transmission Dip Stick Aftermarket Support?

Had to rebuild my 57 Ranchero side loader 3 speed(several times long story) putting the last bolt in the side cover I dropped it, bounced once went straight into the speedo hole in the tail shaft. Yep had to tear it back down. Taped the hole after that. Learned early on, if I drop it it can hide. only hurts when I stop.

Mine was the stupid wing nut that came with a chrome air cleaner I had just bought....remember the long threaded stud from the center of the carb. Took the old cleaner off and ran the nut on a few threads till I was ready to install the new. Went to take the nut off, and it slipped out of my fingers....rest is history and a learning experience.

I may have posted this before (memory get foggy when you get old). The correct term for this is "Selective Gravitation". Any object that is is dropped will seek the worst possible place to end up. Usually where it can cause the most damage. Short if that, the most inaccessible spot. At best it will be in the exact geographical center underneath what ever you are working on. It is one of Murphy's laws. I don't remember which one, but it is pretty high on the list. ?

Just finished installing my stick now. The truck has not been driven for a couple weeks sitting in the garage. Ice cold when I checked my level. After I installed my stick. The fluid level is at 1.
Is that where it should be? I am thinking that because it has not been driven that all the fluid in the tranny is down in the Pan which would make the level higher. I just want to check to see if my assumption is correct.

That sounds about right, you really gotta check it hot, I tried to verify the cold full number, but it seemed to vary a little bit, I figured it was what position the pump and converter were in when shut off, sometimes it drained back in a few hours, sometimes overnight.

Glad it went as planned (except for the cap) enjoy, get it good and hot and check it?

Yeah, you need to check it when it's hot, and that can take up to 20 minutes of steady driving, maybe a bit more if the outside temps are cold. Just a quick beer run won't do it. Then follow Mikes instructions when checking, in park, engine running.

When you get to your destination, let the Ranger sit for a minute or two, in park, idling, and then check it....gives the fluids a chance to "settle" down.

For me , now I'm up above and I put my long extensions and the socket on it. And I just wanna make sure that Turn to my left, lefty loosen righty tighty. But that son of a b**** will not come off. That must have been put on by gorilla monsoon.
Any suggestions?

I would heat it up a little, but I would not start the truck that thing is too close to the exhaust you will probably get burned if that was hot...

They put that thing in a bad spot for sure.

MBS serial #99 installed. Perfect fit, zero issues... except for the 10mm lost on top of the transmission when I installed the MBS bracket. Thanks Mike, great job on designing a great product!

This is the way it should have came from the factory, engine Cover and dipstick, but Ford just decided to be cheap.
But oh boy we got the auto stop and start.

Go thru the passenger wheel well - I found it a lot easier to get leverage that way.

I got it but it was a mother humper. I actually had to use an adapter with a half inch drive socket and breaker bar, There would have been no way that a technician or whatever could have. Got that cap off and checked the transmission. When it it's hot, they would not have any skin left on any part of their arms up to their elbows.

If you warm up the transmission it will help, but then you gotta let it cool back down.

Would using a heat gun help? Or a hair dryer? That cap is aluminum, right? Don't want to break it.
