Dealer just called...said truck is done. The SA said "it needed a valve body and a transmission pump"

Not sure if that's on top of the "overhaul" or what. On my way to get it now.

Hope that solves everything

Msfitoy - 33K on mine. I just saw another thread where the OP reported issues around 22-24K, which is when mine became more noticeable and I started pay more attention to the quirks.

I drove it about 75 miles last night. I don't know if it was placebo effect or what, but it felt better than before with just regular, normal driving. I didn't feel any hard shifts or anything, BUT that's still way too small of a sample size. At some point, I need to pull the 2250 TSB back up and compare it to the invoice. Supposedly, the tech initially misunderstood something, and the "overhaul" that was mentioned in the first visit wasn't necessary. I still don't know what they first found or felt to dig into it like they did.

I'm headed into my office now, and will be headed to Sterling, VA this weekend for a softball tournament, so I'll get a good mix of driving over the next 3 days.

I'll update after the weekend, but so far so good.

Fingers crossed all is well....I want to get the Ford tune next. As well as extend my warranty to the max!

I see from octopus toy you are a Greta fan. She took her post with that toy down when some people complained the Nazis used the octopus to symbolize Jews.

Does anyone know if the extended warranty will cover the transmission if the Ford Performance tune is installed? When I purchased the extended warranty I had the tune installed on my truck, and I was experiencing similar transmission issues. I explained the fact that I have the tune installed and asked if the transmission was still covered to 100k. The response I got was you will have the same warranty you had the day you bought the truck all the way to 100k. I assumed this meant that the transmission would be covered, but then I mentioned it to my service advisor (who now knows me by name due to frequency of visits). He said he had never heard of Ford covering a transmission with a tune beyond 36k. Luckily, I am still under the 36k so I am not worried about warranty coverage when mine goes in on the 13th. But, I am thinking that the twist of words from the extended warranty salesman really means I will have the same warranty on the transmission that expires at 36k if I install the tune. Anyone have any experience with an extended warranty powertrain claim on a tuned truck?

From what I've read (here) it needs to be installed by an ASE cert tech.

Once installed, if the failure could be attributed to the tune, then the warranty could be voided. However, with already having documented issues with my transmission, I'll take my chances on the battle if I were to have any other issues.

I'll also plan to discuss with the dealer I'd use to install it beforehand. I plan on having them install it anyway. I'm thinking I'm going to do it (tune) at my next service assuming the transmission stays smooth over the next 6,000 miles. Daddy might also gift himself the Eibach kit for Christmas. lol

I did have Ford install the tune, figured a couple hundred to keep warranty to 36k was worth it. I'll be tuned in to see how your transmission does after the fix!

According to them, the ESP covers Ford Performance Parts installed by an ASE technician. The wording leaves some room for interpretation, but I think Ford would have a hard time arguing their tune caused a transmission failure.

Well, I've put a few hundred miles on it over the course of the last 3 days and it feels GREAT.

It feels stronger and smoother. Honestly, it's so much better it almost feels like a different vehicle. I'm convinced my transmission was "off" from day 1 - the difference is so night and day.

I have felt 3 noticeable downshifts. However, they were not as jerky or abrupt as what I felt before.

Aside from that, no hard shifts, no jumpy/jerky starts and zero hesitation.

Now I'm looking forward to the tune even more! Next oil change.....

I have had the clunky transmission for a few months. Took mine into the dealer yesterday and mentioned TSB 23-2250 to them. Sure enough after a couple of hours of diagnostics they agreed that 23-2250 is needed. Having reset the TCM/PCM, and performed the adaptive drive cycle, the next step, according to the service order, is valvebody overhaul.

They ordered the parts and sent me away with the truck. They’ll let me know when the parts are in.

It looks like they’re going through the TSB as written: first try a TCM/PCM reflash, then reset the adaptive drive, then overhaul the valve body…

I hope they ordered the CDF parts as well just in case.
