I'm looking from going from stock steelies with 255s to AGP TRUX which are 17s with 265s and have -12 offset. Should I be concerned with rubbing due to offset? I have no lift and I'm wondering if I have to cut crash bars or lift to get them not to rub. Does anyone have any experience with -12 offset without lift? Any info is appreciated!

You’ll rub. What is the sidewall aspect ratio number? 65? 70?

You will definitely need a lift. Crash bars and mud flaps will need to be removed. Even with all of that, you may have to do some extra trimming.

If you want to avoid rubbing of any sorts I suggest you get yourself a set of factory 17 inch wheels and mount that tire size. With that you will not need a lift and the tires will fit just fine

Joe,

As a reference, OEM Ranger wheels are +55mm offset and folks have successfully installed 265/70R17 tires on those factory wheels without a lift or crash bar modification - it’s pretty much as big as one can go and they look great!

I wanted a certain look and started with a 2-1/2” Rough Country level kit with 275/70R17 (32.2”) tires on a +15 mm offset wheel. I took the covers off the crash bars, loosened them and angled them out of the way as far as I could. No rubbing but it was way too close and would be sure to rub off-road or under full compression. I replaced the crash bars with ReadyLIFT beams just to be certain. I likely would have been better off with 3” of lift up front but then I’d need a spacer on the rear.

I have since replaced the 2-1/2” level kit with FOX Performance shocks all the way around. They are set at 2” up front and the tires still clear the new crash bars. It looks to me like they would have rubbed the OEM crash bars at that height and offset.

I went too far with my offset, even with a lift. My experience leads me to believe that:
  • Without a lift or level, you could run 265/70R17s on factory wheels
  • With a 2-1/2” level, you can likely go to +25 mm offset on 32” tires before the trouble starts
  • With a levelling coilover set at 2”, you‘d probably have to go with a +35 mm offset wheel for 32s not to rub
I get that you probably want a certain wheel and are likely looking for some poke or a particular stance but without a lift or level, you can’t stuff those in there, mounted on those wheels, without issues or more modifications.

-12 mm is not going to fit
+1 mm is not going to fit
+15mm is not going to fit - tried it before installing my level just to see
+55 mm (OEM) should fit

Anything in between +55 mm and +15 mm is a wild guess.

Good luck finding your setup.

for my ranger i had eibach pro kit it just levels the truck so i think its a 2"? but i ran 17x8.5x0 method wheels with 275/70/17 and had aftermarket crash bars and i never rubbed. now you will have to trim that inner wheel well liner for this or larger tires but eh thats part of it!

if you want a aftermarket wheel or a more flush fitment with the fenders you will need to put in some work so it will clear.

also you can run -12 someone has done it with a set of 285s and a lift but he needed new crash bars or them removed (cant remember) and some trimming of the plastic in the wheel well. the problem with -12 is how far it pokes out.

if he is wanting an aggressive offset wheel it sounds like he wants a flush look or a slight poke not a sunk in oem look so a oem wheel isnt the best choice or really that great of one lol

Yall are great thanks for the input I ordered RC 2.5 and I'm willing to trim and deal with crash bars! Can't wait
