Don't remove it, just tell them it's the Ford Tune (Livernois), leave it in, fake some paperwork. Hell you can even make an entry in the Fordpass app. Not much chance of it actually working but it's worth a shot. Unless you actually feel bad for poor Ford and don't want to be dishonest with them getting the lemon transmission fixed.
It's not worth a shot because if the repair cost is high enough and Ford figurs it out and you made false paperwork to go with it, they could sue you for fraud in civil court. Or criminal court if they do the repairs then find out because then you've technically stolen from them. It's not worth it.

So you skedaddle to Argentina, so what? It's nice there. Pretty women too.

I thought all criminals skedaddled to Alaska?
The pretty women situation is debateable depending on how much you drink though.

I've heard that's all there is to do up there, get drunk.
I see from octopus toy you are a Greta fan. She took her post with that toy down when some people complained the Nazis used the octopus to symbolize Jews.
Alcohol consumption worldwide increases with the latitude.
If all you can find to do in Alaska is get inebriated you probably should stay away. We don't need more drunks.
Life long Alaskan currently biding his time in Arizona.

In Greta's defence (rarely would i ever do that) she gave a plausible explanation on the toy she used, saying she was unaware of the Kraken reference of the past.
Not sure myself on Mountaingoats use of it at the moment.
Perhaps he will make it right?

It's funny as hell. Getting triggered by a plushy toy. As seen here too I guess.

And I'm no drunk I read up on it once and they have a huge problem with alcoholism up there.

Funny too how everyone rails against woke culture, extreme cancel culture but in this instance we must cancel the plushy blue octopus. Things came full circle on Greta the same way feminism came full circle and now trannies run girls' sports.

The Ford tune is only valid if installed by an authorized Ford dealer or certified ASME tech. So you better have paperwork from either of those. Installing the FPT yourself makes it null and void for warranty purposes.

UPDATE:

Just dropped it off at the dealer. The service advisor immediately mentioned my survey. Lol. I told him that I received an email response from the survey detailing what would be done, but I still had no idea what was found in the first place. Were there codes? Did he (transmission tech) drive it and feel it? What was found or discovered to prompt them to do the rebuild?

He just responded with more generic nonsense. Nothing specific. He said there were TSB's on it....maybe they just decided to rebuild everything since my description matched so well....or maybe the tech drove it and felt it....he didn't know about any codes. He also mentioned again how he was newer to Ford, blah blah blah. So long story short, I still have NO answer on what exactly was found. At this point, I guess it doesn't really matter as long as it gets resolved, but I still think it's crazy that it's not documented somewhere and they can't tell me what the problem was.

But whatever, as long as it gets fixed.

They gave me a new Escape as a loaner and that thing is SMOOTH and quick. Nice little ride.

I've pondered trading in my Ranger for an F150 or maybe a newer Ranger. However, I still love this f'ing truck. I think my current plan is to remain optimistic, hope the transmission runs smooth after the repair (like Squatchranger has reported), and then after a few months I think I'm going to go for the Ford tune and new tires/shocks/struts. Oh yeah, and extend my warranty. Lol.

So F it, I'm still all in. Haha.

UPDATE:

The service advisor just called me. Tomorrow will be a week that they've had my truck. As with everything else, the update was as clear as mud. Lol. He said "it might be done today or tomorrow...they've started on it....tech has been backed up....he might drive it today."

Lol. WTF.

It was a scattered update. I'm pretty sure he was told to call and give me an update, but he didn't know exactly what to update me with. I'm guessing they either just actually started on it this morning, or maybe it could be done today, who f'ing knows. I didn't ask questions. At this point, it's clear the communication from the tech to the advisor is shit and the advisor doesn't know anything more than I do.

I'm all in with keeping my Lariat. I know it will collect dings, the technology will get dated but it's still the right size and power for me and the missus. She hasn't noticed any Mavericks when we've been out and about and if she suddenly decided she wanted one it might replace her affection for my truck. The fact she'll drive the Ranger - when she absolutely refused to even sit in any F150 means a lot to me.

This thread has helped me set expectations on getting repairs done. Her Honda, a year newer than my truck - while underpowered, less technology, less comfortable and noisier has not had any warranty work other than a software update.

I may be old but I drive without a phone in my hand and my eyes on the road.
Nobody honks at me at light changes because I am too busy to notice the light is green.
How do you reply when someone calls you a 'boomer'?
Okay "renter".
Try to stay out of these type comments. But just can't help myself with this one as I am, barely (snagged the tail end), in the boomer category.

Well said.

I'm boomer who had kids late in life...now one of them is stuck at home because rent is nearly $1,000/mo...unless he find enough friends to move in together, we'll never be an empty nester...
Hate that for you... and the kid.

Love my kids. Insanely so as we all do. But empty nesting is where it's at.

Exception#1
The oldest boomers would have been 14 in 1959. Not buying houses. I bought my first in 1988.
+1
I wasn't even born in 1959. And bought my first house in '89... with a VA loan. Barely, BARELY slid my ass in there from a financial perspective.

Still vividly remember buying groceries with a calculator in hand and prioritizing the baby formula and diapers. So yea, this "boomer" may be sitting here looking damn "lucky" now due to my financial situation and career... but I worked my freaking ass off to get where I am.

And all that said, retirement, while I look so forward to it, is NOT going to be easy street. There'll be serious belt tightening.

Can't speak for the others, but I get so goddamn tired of hearing about how boomers had it easier. Boomers covers a broad swath of ages. Those of us on the tail end of that grouping somewhat struggle to consider ourselves part of it. Or at least I do. Easy? Can't remember my financial life being easy. What I do remember is work, work, sacrifice and more work. Somes jobs I truly hated, and worked them for more hours than I can remember. But work I did. And still do.

Yep. Easy. And lucky. Sure thing.

Ok, nerve touched. Rant over. For now.
