I may be old but I drive without a phone in my hand and my eyes on the road.
Nobody honks at me at light changes because I am too busy to notice the light is green.
How do you reply when someone calls you a 'boomer'?
Okay "renter".
Nice try boomer. Me and almost all of my childhood friends are home owners. My spouse and I recently bought a second property. My best friend also has two properties and rents one out. Also, the biggest factor, accounting for inflation the average cost of a house in 1950 was literally HALF the average cost of a house in 2022 (most recent year data is available for). Home ownership was significantly more attainable for boomers than ANY generation since. Fact. So yeah, boomers had it FAR easier than the current generation, regarding home ownership.

After following all the transmission threads on here for some time now, I've convinced myself I should unload my '21 FX4 with only 22k miles on it. It actually came with a free lifetime power train warranty and a 140k bumber-to-bumber warranty (third party warranty providers) but that's not making me feel any better about it because I had a tune on it for a while when I first got the truck. So I'm thinking if the transmission blows I'll be on the hook no matter what since they will be able to tell that the ecu had been flashed before. I've been thinking about a full size truck anyway because the tiny fuel tank in the ranger really sucks while towing a 3600 lb trailer.

Free life time drivetrain warranty?!?!?! That's worth more the truck itself! Why sell it then?

If you do sell it I would see if the warranty is transferable. That would make a great selling point.

Because as I mentioned, I flashed a performance tune when I first got the truck and so now the warranty is essentially voided. It's not installed now but I read that techs will forever be able to tell that it was flashed. I carefully read the terms of the factory warranty and the lifetime power train warranty and they both say that when making a warranty claim that I must submit the truck for inspection upon request. And allso that to maintain the warranty I cannot install any performance modifications that cause the truck to operate outside of the original factory specifications. So now I figure if the transmission goes and I take it to a dealer they'll just say the extra torque from the tune caused the truck to operate above factory specs and lead to the trans failure. I would hate to wait until the trans goes then not be able to unload it and be paying out of pocket for repairs. Yeah, that was my fuck up playing with tunes when I should have just left it alone and ride worry free. The free extended warranties were really nice perks. The power train warranty covers all non wear power train components, including turbo charger and it's parts, for the entire time I own the truck, with unlimited miles and years. Once the repairs cost more than the value of the truck they'll just pay out the value of the truck. The 140k mile bumper to bumper warranty covers everything except items normally changed during scheduled service intervals. I really, REALLY wish that I had never fucked with damn tuning?

someones nerve got touched.
I own all that too and more. but my debt ratio is massive and I'm one missed payment away from bankruptcy.
My first job paid me $2.25 an hour. Kids now a days are getting 8 or nine times that.

I bought the max Ford ESP available on my truck although 'technically' they could say I've violated the warranties. I can't imagine they could validate denying a claim for a failed blend door, SYNC related component, LED headlights, transmission or fan clutch etc. etc. but if it comes down to replacing a transmission in my very nice, nearly paid off truck after all the other money I've spent on it I'd suck it up if I couldn't get Ford to own up to their acknowledged flawed unit.

A brand new truck equipped the same as mine (I have all the pre-delete stuff) costs nearly ten grand more than what I paid.

Would have liked a heated steering wheel like the newer models but it ain't worth ten grand

Nah, I just like a little drama?

I guess my and my spouse are pretty fortunate to have literally zero debt. On the hourly wage thing, it may look like low wage earners these days are making way more than in the past but that is not the case because of inflation. $2.25 in 1976 is about $13 now.

Exception#1
The oldest boomers would have been 14 in 1959. Not buying houses. I bought my first in 1988.

That's not fortune, that is being financially responsible. Today's kids are graduating college with $100k debt for a $40k year job.

Jeez, what a worry wart. I bet you stop at green lights just in case someone is coming the other way.
The transmission issues are not as bad as it is made out to be on this forum. No denying people have problems, but it's still less than 1% of all Rangers.
IIRC, Ford can only deny a warranty if it can be shown that the tune was the cause of failure.

I'm boomer who had kids late in life...now one of them is stuck at home because rent is nearly $1,000/mo...unless he find enough friends to move in together, we'll never be an empty nester...

They certainly can deny it and put the cost on you to prove otherwise while your truck sits at the dealership...

Yep, the days of finding a apartment or house to rent for 350-600 a month with some or all utilities inc are GONE and a cheap used car (dependable) for the kids for $1500 or lower are GONE.

I saw this coming when the big push for $15 hr minimum wage started, I get it and I know what it was like to struggle and juggle bills and unforeseen expenses.
I never would have dreamed that I could go to work at Fast Food and make $19 an hour or spend $50 at said fast food for 3 meals, Me-Wife-Grand-Daughter, not long ago it would have been about 15 bucks.
