Anyone seen this TLAPS option? I like that it doesn't require drilling into the roof. Would you run this?

I like my Thule Aero bars with a basket from Yakima and Thule bike rack. I only had to buy a foot kit for it since I had these bars on my RS after buying them from someone that got the kit from Euro for their RS they had recently (at the time) sold. Getting the foot kit for the Ranger was another fun exercise, had to get it from UK eBay because the Ranger was not introduced to NA until after Thule released a new foot system. In ROW they had the feet that worked with the old foot system on the Ranger but refused to sell it in NA for those with existing setups.

I don't know it, but it does look interesting.

I'd be concerned with how much it "shifts" during travel, and how much that would scratch up the roof. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they tested it enough to make sure it won't shift it's way out of alignment and "disengage" on its own, but I could see them having overlooked "micro-shifts" which would cause abrasions. I'm not so concerned with the resale value of the truck, since I'll likely drive it into the ground, but being in snow country, I don't need to open up the paint to salt from the roads in winter.

First time seeing this and it certainly has the “look” that is quite popular. In this picture, you can see the protective rubber/foam but the narrow clamp makes me nervous about crimping or puckering the edge of the roof line if it’s over-tightened. The clamps on other brands seem to be quite wide. Maybe online reviews might help.

It might be ok, but I would rather drill into the roof with a rated rack from a reputable brand

Sweet.

And they let you drive with those on?

I don't like the fit. Thule and Yakima use wider clips and they fit the curves of the roof edge pretty snugly, so that you know it's a good fit. Yakima, at least, comes with a torque tool, so you won't he-man the bolts and wrinkle your roof.

It looks goo, but on the tall side (to clear the antenna). I'm interested though!

I can hear the sand and dirt getting behind the rubber pads and grinding away at the paint...

Yes, that too - never been a fan of temporary roof racks or truck mounted bike racks - had one of each in the late 80s but never again because of the marks they leave behind. Got a truck instead so I could use the bed - have owned one ever since.

I’m all about permanent solutions or items that mount to existing roof racks that are built for this purpose.

I really like the racks that connect to the existing holes (and the ones that need to be drilled) but I think overall a better solution (for me) was a cab height bed rack and a basket on that...

I can't understand people that travel cross country with those bags strapped to their roof either. The dungs and scratches from that have got to be horrible.

Not to mention the belt buckle, jacket zipper, and snap scratches from trying to get the darn thing up there.

And don’t get me started on the bobble-head-disaster-waiting-to-happen of four kid’s bikes at four different angles bungeed to a $30 bike rack in a 1” hitch receiver.

Dear lord.

Yessssssssss

Let's not forget those who use their BMW x1 to tow a 27ft travel trailer, at 80 mph...

We were coming across 40 on the way out here and there were so many times I saw trailers being pulled by vehicles that were sketch at best. Just because they say you can, doesn't mean you should.... The gf would yell at me when I would just pull off a random exit or rest stop because there was a car pulling a trailer and it was swaying back and forth like a metronome....

The most memorable was the truck that got a side wind and went across 3 lanes, the trailer lifted on one side and slammed down - homeboy didn't even slow down. They kept passing everyone on the highway. Yes, you might get there faster, or you could end up flipping your truck and trailer and die...

Anyone ever end up trying one of these TLAPS? Obviously not the best, but I only need to use it once a year...
