I noticed this hose is separated from one end. I do not know what this is for, and the dealership just did an “inspection” during a service and didn’t say a word. Any idea on what it’s purpose is and/or how severe it being severed is? Thanks.

To be specific on this - the hose is a anti rotation support for the fan clutch module:
The debate is unknown, is the fan clutch itself (wearing out) and torquing the hose causing the hose to break
Or
The flexing of the hose over time breaking at that point.
Some have reported breakage at low miles, so I am leaning towards the fan clutch itself.
If you read the various threads on this you will find this hose can cause a very expensive repair as it will take out the wiring harness with it.

Who's going to be the first one to take the PWM signal the ECU sends through that fan harness and adapt it to an electric fan so we can ditch the engine driven one?

I suppose this could be adapted.

I'd imagine you would have to give the ECU some feedback though as opposed to just controlling an electric fan. It probably expects something back from its commands.

I have been working on exactly this, problem is time and money right now. It would need a custom tune to work and the parts are expensive so it would only appeal to some people. I’m planning on making a prototype controller and seeing if it works then I’ll make an adequate fan assembly and do some real world testing. Hopefully I get to it before my clutch fan fails and breaks everything up there.

The way I see it, that controller should work fine (if it works as advertised) the only thing will be getting the proper fan speed feedback to the PCM.

But that's just a guess on my part.

If it can use the existing signal to the fan clutch that sounds like great product! I’ll be looking into that tomorrow.

That hose is not something to worry about. As mentioned above it is meant to help keep the wiring for the fan clutch in place since the fan clutch is electronic controlled. If you become one of the unlucky ones the fan clutch will lock up in a way that it will rip the hose and harness no matter what. Is there a fix? Not really. That design does work as intended until something bad happens. Part of why I like the old school fan clutch design over the electronic controlled design

I am hoping that someone makes a kit someday... The noise from the clutch fan is sooo annoying.

RCMUSTANG did a one off set up on his... so it IS Possible!

Check it out...

Well I’m thinking maybe get some coated braided steel cable and run it along the outside of the hose. Do loop crimps around the hose mount points. So if the hose lets go then hopefully it won’t wrap around the clutch. Just a thought.
