They just were not able to get it to fit to their satisfaction, or mine, I wanted it back more than he wanted to return it I think.

I wanted to see if I could try and duplicate the fitment he experienced, he has been really good about everything, he gave it his all, we both agreed returning it was best.

Since my level shows I am at 6. How much fluid do you think it will take to get it to the proper level between 5 & 4 ? Thanks in advance.
I think that was where I was at (hard to read)...I added 1/4 quart and it appears to have brought it to around 4.5-4.8...

I used the cold method and experimented a bit. I followed the Ford Tech's advice in the video, and immediately after the fast idle settled I checked the fluid level. It just touched the tip of the dipstick, right at the bend. I let it idle for another 10 minutes and fluid level climbed higher to the diamond below 6. I then added fluid a little at a time until I reached the diamond between 5 and 6. It took between a 1/4 quart and 1/3 quart.

BTW, I used a very small diameter funnel for one reason... I wanted to force myself to add the fluid slowly and check it often. I did not want to over shoot my target level.

The ULV fluid is so thin it is difficult to see. The back side of the dipstick is easier for me to see the level as it is shiney, maybe due to less detail to distract your eyes... Anyway, I simply placed the tip of my finger at the fluid level on the back side and flipped the stick over to see what my reading was based on my finger tip location.

I hope this helps

The dipstick tube is tricky to get it to track down and positioned correctly. It took me 3 or 4 tries. It only goes down one way. Once you find that path is fits right into place. Any variation will end in disappointment. The magic path for me starts just right of the final seating position, and about halfway down I had to rotate the dipstick clockwise as I was dropping it down. This was the only time it ended up on top of the adapter. It was close two other times, but not directly above the fitting.

This really speaks to the precision Fitz manufactured to. Makes me appreciate even more the engineering Fitz put into this thing.

Mine showed up today!

Unfortunately, so did the minor flood in my basement

I guess it'll have to wait a bit.

That wire should go under the dipstick around the left side of the engine bracket.
basically it stays in its stock position and the dipstick goes over the top of it, it just gets pushed down a little.

So I got it right. How about that!

For the life of me I can't imagine why someone would return it, it is a must have for the Ranger.

That was me. Trust me I wanted to make it work. I was genuinely sad when I handed it over to UPS today. It did work as a dipstick, freaking awesome - checked against stock stick - perfect... but it kept positioning itself far too close to the a/c line. So close that it actually pushed the dipstick itself a little loose on a gentle drive. Engine rolled it into the AC line and the dipstick cap bumped it - it went forward. Fitz was right; had I hammered on it or towed... it may have broken that ac line filled with yf - not cheap... That or just bent the Fitzstick. Not exactly a battle I was willing to see play out.

Fitz's support was awesome. I tried everything he suggested - minus taking the bracket out and bending it in a vice (that was my idea.. but wasn't sure how to bend it to make it work...). I did loosen it and try and get some more room that way. After installing it over and over; it kept ending up sitting on top of the a/c line. None of the little harnesses gave me any trouble near the bracket. The top of the stick was sitting flush on the engine backet and I could feel the wires were nice and free without any issues.

I even got on a step stool - not needed for my height to reach that area.. put my 260 pds on it to keep the freaking thing down where everyone else's sits... but as soon as that 10mm tighted up - it went flush on the bracket and turned BACK up towards the AC line. Even with me standing on it.... Like in the last turns as the top bit of the tube went flush - could not keep it right. However, without the 10mm - it was easy to get the tube in position. My right hand is busted all the hell up because I didn't notice the plastic on the edge of the cowl was sharp and I took that bracket off more than a few times. Stupid cheap socket set aligned my knuckles with that plastic bit. So blood, sweat, and almost tears at UPS today went into trying to get it to work.

I am 100% sure that was something with my truck; like that bracket or maybe where the hole is on it. That I am not sure. After reinstalling using the video and written; over and over. It wasn't hard at all. Hell I broke the stock fill plug with ease using a long 19mm ratcheting socket over the exhaust pipe from under it. So even the hard part was easy (I think Ford actually checked it when I asked.. shocked) If it wasn't for it sitting funny - this would have been a 45 minute install taking my time and cleaning the hell out of everything.

One thing I did notice; my transmission wiring loom looks nothing like the one in the video. Maybe a 4wd vs 2wd thing? It looked to be about half the size so getting the tube on the correct side of it was super easy. I would have had to TRY to put it in wrong. I still redid it a few times to make sure it was right and or maybe sitting a bit funny. Every time; tube droppe right on top of the adapter but in the final step it turned toward the AC line.

So if Fitz wants to sent it back out as a used part because I think it's good. I took care to make sure it stayed clean and sealed up. However, being installed ... many times.. its scratched, etc up. Wish its next home better luck than I had with it.

I am pretty sure it would work on another truck. It looked great coming out of the box. The parts anyone would see still look good on what is traveling back now.

I do wish I was closer. I'd love to see what in the hell caused that and get another Fitzstick once my truck is sorted. Right now it is on its way back for a check on the product that I believe is good.

Even with what happened, that I think my truck caused - I still 100% support this product and if a solution is found; I'll buy another one with Rev 2 the weird truck edition (or moron owner that missed something obvious many many times but a solution to the cause of that turn is found).

Last note: I dont want to give specifics unless he wants, but Fitz went out of his way to make this right, even with me standing by it being something with my truck that I wasn't seeing right away that caused the off angle.

Freaking stand up dude who supports fellow Ranger owners and stands behind his product.

That said; @Fitzmotor if something is wrong that can be fixed with the one that was sent back - maybe because someone punted it across a UPS warehouse and bent something but I didn't see the impact marks on the box. I'll be happy to buy mine back; scratches, dings, and all. For full price. Again; love the product - it worked... and I bet I could install one in about 20 min with the cleaning now that I have done it a bunch of times.....

WOW! I guess you did try everything, that is so strange, we have the exact same truck and I have one from the 1st batch and it fits perfect, about 1" from the AC line and squarely between the wire harnesses. I had zero issues with the install, only had a problem getting the OEM cap off, used a breaker bar thru the wheel well and that was easy, go figure.

The install itself was cake. Until the tube ended up 1/8 from the a/c line....

Wife was super confused as she saw me check the dipstick... say something about it works.. then started taking it back apart again. A bit later the swearing started.

Mine tested hot barely touching the 6 at the tip of the stick, took 3/4 of a quart to get it to 4.5 hot. As mine was a factory fill I wasn't surprised it was short sticked, must save Ford a bunch.
