I guess the phones aren't ringing off the hook with complaints then.I was surprised with the minimal amount of hold time and how nice they were.

maybe they have so many complaints they had to hire an additional 100 people to answer phones.I guess the phones aren't ringing off the hook with complaints then.
This is Ford. Say your statement over again...slower this time.maybe they have so many complaints they had to hire an additional 100 people to answer phones.
Even better, used low mileage units are going for $1500 around me. It may not have the latest parts, but for the same price as new, you could get four transmissions and the beer needed to put them all in yourself.I want to know where they're getting that $7000 number from.
IDK if there is new programming that has to go into a new out-of-the-box trans, I'd assume there is, but for a $3000 difference, I'd buy the trans and bolt it in myself and tow it to the dealer to program. The 4wd trans is actually $50 cheaper than the 2wd version below.

I think it’s more about the BCM and options you have that match your VIN. So that’s the only programming I see with the adaptive taking over after that and going through it’s exercises.Even better, used low mileage units are going for $1500 around me. The programming is the piece that would have me worried a bit. The service manual says to reprogram the truck with the new valve body data for that transmission. I suppose it's possible for the 2 units to be off enough for the new one to not adapt correctly, but I would think the computer would figure it out.
Those used units are going to have the same defective CDF drum so who knows how soon you'd be repeating that.Even better, used low mileage units are going for $1500 around me. True, but not every one seems to fail, so there's always the chance the replacement holds. Or at least it holds for another 50k-100k and enough time to trade up to something better. Those used units are going to have the same defective CDF drum so who knows how soon you'd be repeating that.
It has something to do with the solenoid pack and matching it with the car.I think it’s more about the BCM and options you have that match your VIN. So that’s the only programming I see with the adaptive taking over after that and going through it’s exercises.
Nissans 9 speed has shifting issues and failed valve body problems as well. I did some research to see if I was gonna keep the Ranger or jump. They all suck... at least this truck has a solid engine, better than most mpg, and quicker... I'm sort of cheating on that last bit... but hard to beat it for the price. Also throw in some interest rate shenanigans... and I've ordered tires and plan on keeping it at least two more years. Maybe a 6g later if that drum update proves to solve some issues.First I am really sorry you’re going through this. I hope you get it resolved and it doesn’t cost to much. It’s really a shame modern autos with 7-10 speeds are all junk.
To everyone upset with their good transmission saying they’re going to run from the ranger because of this problem I have to ask, where are you going? Every trucks with these multi speeds have issued. GM’s 8 speed is way worse than the ford 10 speed. Ram has the ZF8 which is slightly better but still has issues. The ZF9 is a toilet and also has many class actions. Toyotas has problems. Maybe the new Nissan? Haven’t heard a lot yet. But there’s a pattern. All the new transmissions seem to struggle. They’re never going back to 4 or 5 speeds though because they’d never pass fuel economy standards.
I dumped a canyon with transmission issues for my ranger and it’s night and day better in all aspects. I accept it’s not bulletproof.
i hate to agree with this but i feel like its true. i expect my transmission to give up any mile, already had some issues with it. with no manual transmissions in a truck we are stuck. well i think the taco may offer a manual but i have not seen one in over a decade with a manual. so it is likely a unicorn that no dealer stocks. the jeep santa cruz (gladiator) offers one but its jeep so its reliability is low and cost is six kidneys now that all the trophy wives, high school cheerleaders and express for men types are out trying to man up. I like the frontier but no manual and its still pretty new so i would not trust it for a model year or two.First I am really sorry you’re going through this. Taco are the worst. Even the new ones feel 10 years behind. I can’t understand their popularity. I travel for work so I’ve rented a few new ones and just not great. Nissan is Nissan. I just don’t trust them. And now they’re teamed up with Renault and just no. I had a Jeep. It was a bad time. Went to the diesel Canyon Denali after that. It was a worse time. GM f’ed me in the early 2000’s and I swore never again. All my friends said so much better now. Well no. 35000 and shot transmission and diesel issues. Before the Jeep id owned an older expedition and an 05 f250 I bought in 2010. Both I loved and couldn’t kill. Decide it was time to go back to ford and got the ranger. Even if fords are a little more ugly and all have that damn ford smell they just make a decent vehicle. Perfect no but decent and better than all the others I regularly drive as rentals.i hate to agree with this but i feel like its true. i expect my transmission to give up any mile, already had some issues with it. with no manual transmissions on the in a truck we are stuck. well i think the taco may offer a manual but i have not seen on in over a decade so it is likely a unicorn that no dealer stocks. the jeep santa cruz (gladiator) offers one but its jeep so its reliability is low and cost is six kidneys now that all the trophy wifes, high school cheerleaders and express for men types are out trying to man up.
