Tell me about the area. I was looking at our trip route home and seeing as Annie doesn't have to be back to work until Thursday I was thinking of taking a little detour and extending our trip there. I heard it's a really nice area but know of nothing to do in the area besides Chimney Rock National Monument. Any help would be appreciated!

Stop in at Two Chicks & A Hippie
117 Navajo Trail Dr #9033, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147
Treat yourself to a sticky bun.
Perhaps the best bakery item I've ever tasted. The earlier in the morning you stop by the better as they will be fresher.

Also take a soak in the hot springs.
Haha when I zoomed in on Google Maps I saw that place. Thanks for telling me about it because I probably wouldn't have stopped there based on the name. lol

Cool area. Hot springs. Good hiking. We had Mexican food at I think a strip mallish place. Really good.

Very cool area if you have time to explore. I stayed at an RV camp just east of Pagosa Springs (Pagosa Riverside Campground) a few years back after coming over Wolf Creek Pass. Chimney Rock is a worthwhile place to visit. We went in the spring and the river walk along the San Juan was beautiful.

I've eaten at that Mexican place, it's great.
Great, we love Mexican food! I was looking on Google Maps is this the place you're talking about? Looks like it's in a strip mall next to a beauty salon and a ski rental center. It's also right near the resort where we're staying.

Thanks Vince! The river walk sounds great and we'll do that first seeing as it's easy. That way Annie won't give me a hard time when I tell her we're going hiking again. ? ?

We're in South Dakota now and leaving here tomorrow morning and stopping in Colorado City for the night. Then Saturday morning we'll be in Pagosa Springs through Thursday morning.

As a suggestion for on the way is to head north towards WestCliff from Colorado City. From there you can hit Medano Pass going to the Great Sand Dunes Nation Park. Nice easy trail the Money Pit #2 should be able to do and it's a little scenic going to Pagosa.

Thanks Chris. I'll look into that route and it's only a little over 3 hours to get to Pagosa and we'll have all day seeing as we can't check into the resort until after 4 pm.
