Chuck, were you in The Cannonball Run by any chance??

One of my favorite movie lines ever from Terry Bradshaw. "I can't see shit, can you?"

Let's see, in chronologic order:
1. In high school bought a nice new Craftsman tool set because I was taking shop class. One day after working on my '74 Chevy, I got in it and back up right over the tool box destroying it. The tools inside survived.
2. Had the sunroof out of my '88 Plymouth Sundance for some reason. Got in it and back up over it shattering it to pieces. Damn thing was less than 2 years old.
3. Got a seasonal job right after discharge from the Navy driving a UPS truck. First day out solo, tore a big ass hole in the roof of the truck as I was pulling into a nursing home. Didn't see the overhead. Luckily they didn't fire me.

2 of my dumbest things:
1. On way from school to my job we had an unusual clay sandstorm…farming area. Couldn’t see a thing. Turned on my wiper & washer fluid. Red mud! Absolutely couldn’t see a thing for sure. Had to get to work, so drove with my head out the window. Not ideal at all. Of course my windshield was a scratched up mess.

2. After I got my Ranger, I read on here how someone had slammed their door into the gas pump barrier. I thought I was much too careful to ever let that happen. I’m not lying, it wasn’t two days later that I slammed my Ranger door into the gas pump barrier! I was so upset! Thankfully, not one mark.:)

I was washing my truck. And I opened the hood with the windshield wipers still up. Added a nice couple paint chips right on the edge of the hood. I am too embarassed to take a pic, but I will when I get home from work today. Need to break the dr color chip back out...

Just a reminder to not be as dumb as me. The 303 nano graphene detailer is absolutely amazing stuff. Paint looks incredible.

Been there, done that, only it was on my wife's Escape. I learned from that mistake.

When I was trying to figure out how to get my aftermarket LED lowbeam to stop turning off, I would try so many different wiring configurations. Which meant the battery was in, then out, then in, out, in, out...you get the idea. And that SOB is heavy! Anyway, one of those times putting it in, I didn't quite make it back over the fender and put nice dent right in it. Luckily it didn't chip the paint and I've since had it repaired, but dumb happens from time to time. Now if only I could figure out how I got the ding in my rear door...?

Bah, that sucks and you know, a wiper shouldn't be able to dent and chip paint, but that's another topic (I have two acorn dents from parking under our oak tree). =(
Know the feeling. I have an 60 ft Oak tree that has made some dents on my hood and roof. I swear these things are made of beer cans.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
If that's really the dumbest thing you have ever done I'd say your doing pretty good. Something like that probably wouldn't even make the top 100 of the dumbest things I've done.
Sigh. Yea. Me too.

Do they have support groups or something for doing stupid stuff like this thread. Like AA meetings but called SS meetings? I could certainly be a participant “Hi my name’s Andy and I’m a Stupid Shit..”
This entire forum is exactly for what you said! =D

Hi my name is Dave and I'm a shopaholic on Ranger5G ....

Not a recent dumb event, but 30 years ago I opened the hatch of my hatchback and then backed out of the garage. You know what happened.
30 years ago for me: My girl and I just purchased a used minivan. I was in the grocery parking lot backing up, light post, driver's door still open.. ARG

Mid-Size

I'll add to the pot...

was changing the wiper blades on my wife's Land Rover, putting on the new blade the arm slipped out of my grip slamming into the glass, instant San Andreas size crack across the entire windshield. The way it played out in my mind the entire experience happened in slow motion. I think its safe to say we all feel your pain... been there done that.

Thanks for the heads up. That stinks. Dont feel bad:

I live on acreage. I was backing up to do a three point turn to go back to the garage from the wood pile... and somehow.... I backed in to the one thing on my property sticking up... an old basketball pole... Dented the shit out of the plastic molding under my rear bumber and the lights I had just installed. I literally looked around to see if anyone saw me... LOL... I felt like such an idiot! But, I had to laugh... stupid pole!

5 days after i got my 2023 Ranger i went to Wawa for gas. The barriers there are stone (stupid). My door swung open all the way and tapped it. That was enough to get a tiny dent/scratch. I'm not sure what I should to fix it. Not going to Wawa anymore.
