So I just picked up this generator today. What is so neat about it you ask? Well to my understanding Nissan had this available for a short time for sale at the Dealerships in the 80's. For camping I'm sure it was a great idea at the time(not counting the noise factor). Is rated for 500 watts continuous and 600 watts peak. It also can charge a battery at 8.3 amps per hour. With it's tiny .5 gallon gas tank it can run between 3-4 hours at most under load. Not bad when you think about it.

I'm not sure if any other manufacturers did something like this or not, but regardless it is neat.

Looks brand new! Good thing they didn't leave stale gas in it.
.... Yeah unfortunately I'm going to have to clean it out..... Hopefully the carb won't be too bad either...

Retired, work is a four letter word.
A pocket generator, won't power much these days, but good for a few small items if you can put up with the noise. Looks like its been in a storage room for a couple of decades.

Heh, OK, "A neat find".
A small generator, handy for small loads (like power tools on the back 40, etc).
Cool.
How about the rest of the story?
How much?
Does it run?

Yeah OK for some camp lights. Won't run many power tools on 4 amps. More of a conversation piece.

Well if you are wanting to buy it I will sell it to you for $1000 just for the little bit of attitude you want to show(don't worry, I'm not trying to sell it anyway).

Does it run? At the moment no. As mentioned above I have to clean it out of all the old fuel. Once that is done it will run perfectly.

What am I planning to use it for? I figure a simple backup when out in the trails. Also makes a nice conversation piece.

My main reason for getting it was just for how neat I found it to be. I wasn't even aware these were made until a few months ago. Now I have my hands on one.

Perhaps @P. A. Schilke might know if Ford or anyone else made a similar Generator before. After seeing this I wouldn't be surprised

Hi Chris,

Ford Power Products at the time did sell engines to the generator folks, but I do not recall anything as small as you have. I have little contact with Ford Power Products...different arena than production of trucks, vans and SUV/CUV...

Best,
Phil

Sorry, I didn't intend an 'attitude'.
I did say it was 'cool' :)
I do own a couple of generators; a big Generac for the house, and a small Honda for the back 40 power tools. And I know they're not inexpensive.
So I liked your find, and was just curious how much it cost, and if it ran good.
That' all.
Again, sorry if I came across as sarcastic or something.

Gotcha. I picked it up for $180. As you can tell it looks brand new, but it has been sitting in a storage shed for a few with gas in it so I got to find a carb kit and clean it out. Doing some digging it's actually a Subaru/Robin R600 that was rebadged. My guess is a small deal Nissan made with Subaru. Also from what I have been told this guy is supposed to be really quiet. We shall see on that one but I'm sure it will do all I need

I have a feeling that is simply a rebadged unit. I have seen a few Ford generators new at a store and they all looked like rebadged units.
I would have assumed the same thing for the Nissan generator.

And that I did confirm. The little Nissan Generator is actually a rebadged Subaru/Robin R600. Regardless it's still a neat generator
