I currently have Eibach ProTruck shocks front (with Ford stock springs set at 3/4" lift)and rear. I've had them for 10,000+ miles with the rears for over 20,000 miles They improved the overall ride from the FX4 wallow. The issue I have is the small bump compliance and I deal with this a lot in my NYC commute of not so nice roads. It seems like I feel every crack and ripple on the road, my tires are set at factory spec of 30psi for stock Hankook 18".

Will the Fox 2.0 provide a smoother, softer ride compare to the Eibachs? I'm not looking for grampa's Cadillac but something that makes an hour and a half of stop and go more tolerable.

If I had to guess I'd say it's half suspension and half the fact that you have 18s. Less sidewall is great for handling but you'll feel more of the road.

The Fox 2.0 is nice but you're still going to feel stuff.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I have noticed when these tires get hot, they ride like the Flintstone-mobile. I had a Ranger with 17" wheels for a loaner a while ago and the ride was nicer on the crappy roads.

I had these Eibach Stage 2.0 on mine with 265/70/17 and the ride was really good. Not Cadillac good but WAY better than the Fx4. Our roads are really nice here but we traveled over 5,000 last summer through many snowbelt states and I never felt what you're experiencing. Hope this helps.

We have had some big temperature swings from morning to evening. 40°F in the morning, tires set at 30 psi cold. The drive home at 5:00pm, 80°F and TPMS reading 35 psi. I realize that's nothing compared to AZ but do you see the temps go very low at night?

We do in the winter here. We have temps in the low 30's regularly at night and day highs mid 60's. I set my tires to 32 psi cold and during the winter they would only move 1-2 psi at most. now summers are a whole different thing here and I'll see them upwards of 37-38 when hot.

Sounds like I need more sidewall!

I have the same setup on 18" tires as yours and to me, smoother comes with increased load. Single drive and empty bed, its pretty firm truck ride, two passenger or some load and it is very smooth.

A 40lb bag of kitty litter makes a difference (believe it or not).

In case you need a reminder welcome to the Ford Ranger. Biggest reminder is that it's not a Rolls Royce, and many seem to think it is.

Now that's out of the way I feel that the shock you have are more than adequate especially if you stay on the street. Having an 18 inch wheel vs a 17 on the factory tires size can be a part of the factor here since as.mentioned above a smaller sidewall will cause a rougher ride. If you don't want to spend the money on new(to you) wheels then I suggest getting a bigger tire. With what you have 32's will fit with no modifications. That size is 265/65-18. There are quite a few tires available in that size. If you want to stay on the street and don't intend to go Off-road at all the the Michelin LTX M&S or the Firestone Destination LE3 will suit you just fine.

Nitrogen will keep the pressures more stable if that’s what you want.

It's funny you mention that. I just put 140lbs of tube sand in the bed a just came back from a test drive over some cracked and rippled roads. Made a nice difference.

Thanks for the tip. I'll stick with the 78% nitrogen my air compressor spits out. ?

I've had the truck since September 2020 and came from an 2016 Audi Allroad, very different rides. I've contemplated moving to 17" wheels or upsizing the existing tires. Neither is a cheap option. I'm going to see how the tube sand in the bed helps on my next commute. So far my quick test was good.

Tires are never cheap, that said tires are also maintenance. I would only do the tires once it is time to do so. If you still have plenty of life on the current set then there is nothing wrong with holding off for a bit.
