Wow, I love those tires on the steel rims!

What are they and what size? They'd look great on Soupie.

Man, they really look sharp on your black Ranger!
I have a full set of stock 16” steelies and tires with 500 miles on them for sale.

I have steelies and only 2500 on the stock tires, so it'll be a while, but I'd like a taller tire for sure.

Thanks and good luck selling them, I'd think someone would at least like steels for winter tires. =)

Then it seems like we have the same wheel haha. I have spacers, ford leveling kit and not that it really matters but icon springs in the rear. I say it doesn’t matter because I have them set up for stock height with my decked system in the back. But if you got a leveling kit of some sort and spacers you could run the same size when you are ready for new tires. Some people love the steelies and some hate them. My buddy says my truck would be the first to get blown up in some 80’s era action movie haha. I really love the red on Soupie. I originally wanted white but my wife talked me into the black. Which is now terribly scratched due to offroad adventures but it is what it is I suppose.

I dropped down from 285/70/17's back to 265/70/17's. Truck looked much better with the bigger tires, but honestly the driveability was compromised far too much. Truck feels like a rocket now, transmission seems snappier and more responsive. I don't wheel it enough to need to added clearance. The 265 is def the best tire size for these trucks IMO...

My old FJ40 has the most warped steel wheels possible. They're almost impossible to balance but they've been through so much abuse and keep rolling (kinda sorta and wobbly). Now that I've given the FJ to my daughter, I may need to spring for new ones, but they'll be steelies for sure!

Thanks on the leaf spring tip, we'd like to get a travel trailer and I'd like a little beefer looking springs like yours. Thanks for the great advice (and for more ways to spend money!). =D

UPDATE BELOW

I dropped it off at the dealer at 9:45 AM to have GSB 21-7122 performed. My ESN in the radio is different than what Ford is showing in Oasis and that the GSB "was" supposed to fix it. No luck after performing the GSB and no luck after trying to trick the Ranger in to thinking that they changed the APIM. Soooooo.....I had to leave the Ranger with then while they reach out to the Tech. Assistance Center to see if they have any idea how to fix it. :crying:

Apparently it is a factory screw up of some sort. I've only put 42 miles on it since it was delivered September 6th 2022 and it has been sitting in the garage on a trickle charger since October 2022 waiting for the salt to wash away from the roads after the long winter.

UPDATE: Ford customer service just called me to let me know that the GSB did work! Apparently the ESN that is displayed on the radio IS the correct one, and the GSM update caused the info in Oasis to be updated as well. The web site ESN & radio ESN now match. YEAH!!!!

Haha there are all sorts of ways to spend money on these things for sure!
Dang I wish I got an FJ40 for my first car! I’m sure she is stoked about that. And yea, maybe time for replacements haha.

Installed the oil catch can. I wanted a semi pro looking job, so I took my time. I may make a "build" thread? I dunno. Anyway:

*Hose clamps are temporary. Got band clamps on the way.

My least favorite part of this was cutting the OEM line to do my splice job...

Noob question, what's the purpose of the catch can?

In preparation for Money Pit 2 I did something I should've done years ago. Cleaned the engine cover! o_O Needless to say I won't be letting this new one get so bad.:blush:

Hey @AzScorpion have you ever heard of this Aerospace Protectant stuff from a company called 303? Amazing product, will condition and maintain the cover. You should try it…

To part customers with their money by using the oldest method in the book; snake oil.

It removes moisture/water build up in the oil. Something every car does and manufacturers set the acceptance perimeters on this.

It probably has its place in high level performance requirements, as in professions where every millimeter of performance is on the line, but strikes me as completely useless to someone outside of this category that changes their oil on proper intervals.

Thanks Scott I'll have to try this stuff. I do remember some snake oil salesman peddling this stuff a while back but one day he just disappeared. :ninja:
