its home brother. These mountains are where I belong. How would the world ever change if folks just abandoned the ones that needed help?
Whatever floats your boat.

Update, I give credit where credit is due. Ford agreed to pay $2k of $3300 repair. Still not what I wanted but they at least budged. That was with help of my dealer friend
Not a bad outcome considering the truck was out of warranty.

Sorry for the folks having issues with the truck and/or with Ford service. My experience with my pre-pandemic Ranger on the service side has been terrific. Mechanical things break. I had only two warranty issues arise, one was a right front axle, which was replaced without issue under the factory warranty, and the 2nd was a lower ball joint assembly, which was also replaced without issue under the Ford extended warranty. My spark plugs are bone dry and I have no issues there what so ever. Love the truck and still get a kick driving it every day. It’s a fun truck for me.

I had sworn off on all Ford vehicles since my 2001 Ford Expedition. I had so many issues with that truck that, at the time, I swore I would never own another Ford. That is, until I tested the Ranger. I totally understand how one can lose faith in a company and their product, but every manufacturer can, and has had, issues. But as others have said, you gotta drive what makes you happy. My truck, and Ford, have both treated me well this time around.

Friendly service advisor but I'd advise not dropping your keys or bending over to look at something under the hood and carefully review the Ford "works package" for regional variances.

Long story short version. Bought my 2019 Ford ranger brand new put a small leveling kit on it with some decent tire size tires. Specifics are in my profile. Babied this truck. Maintenance followed routinely. I’m 46 years old little to no where in tear I actually drive like a grandpa. Fast forward to one month ago. Driving on the highway started having hesitation took it straight to Ford in the computer said it was misfiring. Very next day it was determined that my spark plugs were rusted and one of them was seized in the engine. My buddy who is one of the service managers called me and asked me if I had some submerged my truck or off roaded. Neither nor. Told me it would be $600 to replace the plugs. Two days later he called me and told me they couldn’t get one of the plugs out. Now it was gonna be $1300 to replace the plug and the coil. Three days later, they still can’t get the plug out Five days later the plug still won’t come out now they need to replace not only the coil but the head and it was going to take 22 hours of labor. It is now $2300. They were telling me worst-case scenario might be $3200. Turns out on this forum It was determined that is an engineering flaw. Ford is telling me that the reason my spark plugs are rusted because I’ve over washed my truck. They refuse to cover any sort of work. I have 61,000 miles on my truck and I’ve called the customer service line where they were complete, jerks and again refused to cover any of the work, there is a TSB bulletin that tells Ford to put an engine cover on trucks, such as mine to prevent water vapors from getting into the spark plugs. Ford knows there is an issue I now haven’t had my truck for over three weeks. Luckily, my friend who owns the dealership is willing to buy it from me. Still uncertain of the total cost or afford will cover anything. We are in a scenario where we are challenging the decision. Bottom line I just got a Tacoma today

if there’s anybody who’s experiencing the same sort of dilemma, or issue with rusted spark plugs, please message me I’m curious. As of now, I will never buy another Ford or recommend another Ford to any human being on this earth that I encounter. Otherwise, I absolutely loved my ranger and I’m sad this has happened.
IN 2006, I WORKED FOR A FORD DEALERSHIP IN MIDLAND ONTARIO FOR TWO YEARS AS THEIR GOFOR/SHUTTLE DRIVER ETC...BECAUSE I'M MECHANICALLY MINDED, I ALWAYS SAT WITH THE MECHANICS AT LUNCH AND LISTEN TO THEM HASHING OUT THEIR PROBLEMS WITH VARIOUS FIXES BUT ONE OF THESE PROBLEMS IS RELATED TO YOUR PROBLEM. IT INVOLVED CHANGING THE SPARKPLUGS ON THE FORD TRITON 5.4 AND HOW ALL THE SPARK PLUGS WERE SEIZED IN THE BLOCK AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM OUT WAS A MULTI STAGE PROCEDURE/SEVEN PAGES NO LESS OF STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO GET THESE PLUGS OUT. IT INVOLVED WARMING THE ENGINE, APPLYING COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF PENETRATING FLUID, THEN, COOLING THE ENGINE DOWN, PUTTING A WRENCH ON THE SPARK PLUG AND APPLYING LIGHT PRESSURE, LOOSENING, TIGHTENING WITHOUT ACTUALLY MOVING THE SPARK PLUG, THEY HAD TO DO THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN, WARMING THE ENGINE, SPRAYING TONS OF PENETRATING OIL, LETTING THE ENGINE COOL DOWN TO COLD OVERNIGHT AND DOING THE WRENCH THING AGAIN, LOOSENING TIGHTENING BUT NOT ACTUALLY MOVING THE THE SPARK PLUG. IT WOULD TAKE THEM DAYS TO REMOVE ALL THE PLUGS ON THIS EFFING MOTOR BUT IT WORKED. YOU COULD DO ALL OF THE ABOVE YOURSELF AND SAVE A TON OF MONEY. I'LL GO ONLINE TONIGHT AND TRY TO FIND THE SEVEN PAGE SERVICE INSTRUCTION THAT THEY HAD TO FOLLOW. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THESE ARE GREAT TRUCKS AND WELL WORTH HOLDING ONTO RATHER THAN GETTING RID OF IT OVER THIS POOR DESIGN RELATED TO FOUR SPARK PLUGS .. THERE ARE VIDEOS RELATED TO THE ABOVE WHERE THE MECHANICS SUGGEST USING FORD MASTERCRAFT CARBERATUR CLEANER INSTEAD OF PENETRATING FLUID BUT AGAIN THAT RELATES TO THE TRITON MOTOR. https://www.google.com/search?q=FOR...57j33i160.24868j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 AND HERE THE VIDEO FOR REMOVING THE PLUGS ON A 2020 RANGER::

Like I said.

"A lot more to this story."

I'd pack that Taco up and move if that's the case.
Move to where Colorado ? We also have mountains and meth, fentanyl, and a good number ofcrummy dealerships. But at least 420 is legal here.

Anywhere. While Colorado isn't perfect. The place that dude is describing is a shithole.

Also, Colorado is full, you know that.

I also had a '75 Cosworth Vega. I see that the air injection plumbing is gone just like mine was.
To be honest, that is not mine... got a Google image as it showed the plug wire and covers very clearly.
This is mine.. lol. I'm in the process of restoration. Have all new shinny chrome air injection plumbing. Going to nice clean OEM drive, not show queen.

It's all off now, will pull the engine in a couple weeks for refresh; new clutch, FW and PP. Suspension is off and out for media blasting and powder coating. Then the bodywork... :crying: what have I gotten myself into??? Going to be a long summer.

Haven't posted here in almost two years. I ended up with a 22 Nissan Frontier. While I did enjoy the comradery on this site, I had an EXTREMELY poor experience with my first dealer after my ordered vehicle was damaged by them during their vehicle prep work. After waiting almost 6 months, I was very upset. Friendly Ford in Roselle, Illinois can go pound sand IMO!

I ended up ordering another Ranger (pending another 6 month wait) at a different dealership. In the mean time, I test drove a 2022 Nissan Frontier and fell in love with the simplicity of the V6. The ride was more 'truck like', had a fresh modern look, but still was old school enough for me to do some basic maintenance with ease. I ended up getting a decent deal. Car market at that time was still nutz, but I actually got a better deal than what Ford was offering. I purchased the Frontier, and cancelled the second Ranger order.

I do miss some of the folks here who were extremally helpful, but I have moved on to greener pastures. I do recommend the Frontier over the Ranger, but again, that's my opinion. Wish everyone luck with their rides. Hope to see some of you out on the road one day. ;)

Thats a sweet truck
My boss had all kinds of issues with her newish explorer. Off loaded it for a new frontier.

And that's the thing about vehicles. One guy buys a Tacoma and 2 more had all kinds of this and that wrong with them. Somebody else buys a dodge and you know where I'm going.
This being a ranger site, some are a little more rabid than others.
I can say, I don't loose sleep when someone buys something other than a ranger and mentions it here.
I like a few others have documented have reservations going forward with our rangers.
I'll run mine a little longer. BUT I am looking hard for that deal that suits me.
I can say without a doubt it'll be gone right around the time the 60k warranty ends.

You might have them clean the intake valves unless they will be using new valves. Good to hear ford is stepping up to help.

Ford is telling me that the reason my spark plugs are rusted because I’ve over washed my truck.
That alone makes me never want to buy another Ford.

geez. better than nothing but still sad it just was not sent out with a engine cover that prevented the mess in the first place. so just out of curiosity, what had to take place for them to kick in 2k?? and is that money going to dealer to do the repair or to you?
