I am notorious for pushing the limits on my gas tank and have run out of fuel in some spectacular places! I like to know my limits. How low can you go? What does the display show when you reach zero? How much fuel can the tank actually hold?

Display shows 2 miles to empty, gas pump shut off at 18.3 gallons.

You’re a much braver man than I am Andrew.…

Although, the next gas station was probably 25-30 km away.

I have a diesel, not risking it. Besides if I get to half a tank I am certainly filling. Generally if I get 3/4 I am filling. Mostly a cautionary thing here in the Philippines. Also I am retired so I get up take a ride, listen to some music and get fuel.

There's a video on YouTube where a guy drives his F150 until it runs out of gas. He threw a 5 gal can in the back an strapped on a gopro. He went like 50 miles after it said 0 miles to empty. He tried it in his wife's fusion an went over 30.

Went like 10 miles past 0 in a rental from Utah to Vegas so as not to disturb the wife. Gas pump handles at 110* are fricking hot. I'll take my winters any day.

5 or 6 miles past zero, no problem. Display just keeps showing "0 miles to empty" Totally by accident, detour took me off highway and away from gas stations but i do like to push it....// by noting the miles to go, capacity etc i am pretty sure that even when it says "zero miles to go" you have nearly a gallon of gas left. The calculator is not perfect and has built in safety room for idiots like me.... like the manual says, pretty sure 18.8 gallons is accurate for the tank capacity.

Its hard on the system and sometimes engine to let the gas level get so low. Impurities that have sunk to the bottom of the tank get sucked up and thrown in your cylinders

I am notorious for pushing the limits of my Ranger's gas tank, too! I push it all the way to half-empty before heading for the next gas station...

15 miles past 0 and I still had gas left. I’m assuming 20-30 past 0 before the truck actually shuts off. I put 19.5 gal in and guess the tank really holds 20 (with the reserve)

WOW! I think the light came on twice with this truck, filled up mins later.
I hate going under half now as the cost will be over 100$. We're just not
used to that, having had a Mazda2 & other fuel efficient vehicles. It's a learning experience LOL.

Really it gets past the filters? how does that happen?
The reason many have said in the past to not run your tank too low was due to heat. The pump is happier in gas. NOT sure about that however, just sure that NOTHING will get past the filter/filters.
