Sign that you should get something that doesn't have the craptacular 10R80.
Uncalled for comment! Especially in a non-transmission related thread.

Sorry for the OPs problem and hope dealer can make it right. Very frustrating to wait that long and have this happen.

If it needs body work like the OP described - I would say no. It’s not the dealerships fault but that isn’t your issue. The transport company has insurance and so does the dealership. while they could take a “loss” if they have to resell it - they are going to write off any lost revenue on their taxes anyways. It’s not like they will be out of pocket really so it isn’t really a loss. Which is way different than for you as the consumer - you don’t get to write off the devaluation of the vehicle on your taxes.
I meant this isn’t like buying eggs at the market and coming home to find one of them cracked and you go “oh well”. The truck is like 35000x more expensive ?
Just my opinion.

In agreement with others. See it first and then let them pitch their plan. It’s ether going to get you to walk or work out a deal. If they have a good PDR guy and defects are minor with some good paint match you’ll end up with thicker paint than factory. Who sees a roof? Still, for the money and wait it better be right.

I'm with the bunch of telling both Ford and the dealership to give you a NEW UN DAMAGED TRUCK!! If they refuse go elsewhere...... As unfortunate as it may sound to say it I simply would not tolerate that.....

You say you want / need this truck, but ANY body damage, even a mild scratch is an absolute “NO” in my book.

How much are you about to pay for this “brand new” vehicle? $40k, 45, 50, 55k???

Think long and hard if you want to pay anything, even a HUGE discount for it. And trust me, it’ll never be 100% right.

My truck had minor body/paint repair done prior to me taking it. Wasn't told til after it was in my hands but thats a different story,

Anyway, the repairs are not on the carfax report if that helps any.
I’d have “lawyered up” in your case. By not disclosing that damages were repaired to your “brand new” vehicle they lied to you. But….. that seems typical with manufacturers and dealers.

I agree. Have them fix it right and knock off some money, too. :like:

Hi OP,

I had a similar situation but the dealer did not tell me.
Now that I'm no longer upset, it was in 2014, I can give you my thoughts.
Long story short, I bought a new 2014 BRZ & found out 6 months later
that they had repainted it, about 1/4 of the car. Talked to a lawyer &
I received a brand new 2015, no cost to me. At least they told you so
you can take it or leave it. So, how long do you think you will keep it?
For 10 yrs or more or 5 yrs? If for a short time I would say pass. Also
what is the damage? It's a truck, so I assume you will use it as a truck,
which means it will probably get banged up some in the next few
yrs, so a little fix/repaint now is no big deal.
Next part of my story.... My BRZ was going to be a garage queen. It
was the most expensive car I bought, it was for my retirement, a Sunday car. Well, I started going to autoX & doing HPDE(high performance driver education). After all these yrs it has a few dents, scratches... I gave up on PDR as fixing one I got 2 more dents...
So, unless the damage is horrific, I would say, play the game, tell them
it's a fixed/damaged truck, try & get something from them. Even if you want to keep it for 10 yrs, things change & you might need to sell it
sooner then you think. Get it all documented.

There is ALWAYS a paper that you sign in the stack when purchasing that states the vehicle may have had repairs for transport damages or from mother nature etc . Most people just start signing away without reading what they are signing.

After sleeping on it, this is pretty much where I am. I hope to see a picture today, and also get the body shops thoughts. They are a pretty well trusted shop in the area. The damage being on the roof is the best place, baring any "structural" issues, I guess.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, thus far. I will keep everyone updated today and tomorrow.

The next step is to really see the issue, get some thoughts from the body shop, and see what the dealership has to say.

One "interesting" thing is that my family has used this dealership for years (over 15)... Buying upwards of 8 cars in that span (between all of us). So they have been very kind and alert during the whole process of us ordering and receiving this truck. I tend to trust them, and that this will get handled right, but we will see...
